If I were alive at the time (and maybe a reputable musician) I'd have joined The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Lord knows what I could (more like could NOT) have contributed. I mean, maybe he could've used a little sax--I could've put those skillz to passable use. Or I could've just picked up a pair of congas or something... whatever it would take to be on stage.

OR I think the ideal would have been to sing, either alongside Jimi or in the background! I promise I can harmonize decently, thanks to the then-torturous ear-training classes of my music major days.

But it was the emotional significance more than anything. I grew up on mix tapes my dad used to craft to cope with his insomnia--I always benefitted way too well from his lack of sleep, with endless earfuls of great music and hours of entertainment spent "flying" the model airplanes he'd built and painted himself when I was sleeping.

And while I've forgotten the names of most of my airplanes, the music he shared with me is still with me... still the soundtrack to my earliest memories, still essential to my music library and my emotional composition. Tom Petty, The Beatles, Dean Martin, Hendrix, The Cure, Elvis... the (rather eclectic) list goes on, and I know that his love for music is one of the reasons why I have to have it, have to live it.

A lot of the time, I only wish I'd had the chance to share my favorites with him.

I feel a little bad for re-mentioning Taylor after already posting an entire commentary on her overrated-ness, but I don't feel even a tad remorseful for calling out Bon Jovi. "Another show was added due to high demand," my ass.

I'm living on the prayer that I never have to hear "Livin' On A Prayer" ever again for as long as I live.

A Hard Day's Night was one of my favorite movies when I was a youngin', and John was definitely the quirkiest AND the cutest. Years later, my taste in men hasn't changed--I like 'em funny and cute (and a bunch of other things, but for the sake of avoiding frustration, we won't go there.)
