      • Rain in the desert, Arizona near the Black Mesa

        The smell of rain on dirt always makes me feel nostalgic. It reminds me of living in New Mexico which was one of the more depressing times of my life even though I love the smell.

        The smell of diesel fuel reminds me of the many road trips across the United States my dad took us on. Even though I dislike the smell I enjoyed having that much time with my dad.

        Strange how a good smell reminds me of sad times and a bad smell reminds me of happy times.

        My sister was married to a Filipino man and one day we were joking about tanning/burning in the sun. He was joking with us about being pale and I said "We're not pale, you were just left in the oven too long." He chuckled but everyone else in my family all but gasped in shock. I immediately realized that no one else would have dared bring up the skin color difference and in an attempt to make it ok and more light-hearted I buried myself even deeper. To this day I am still friends with him even though they're now divorced and I always wonder if he thought I was being racist. I still feel awkward about it and won't bring it up.

    • If I Were To Create A TV Show

      • "Finding Home" It would feature people who are trying to adopt a child and the process they have to go through. It would also check in on those families through the years, documenting the acclimation.

        Not only would it educate people about how it works but it would bring attention to children who need loving families.

        My husband and I don't have any children yet but plan on a family soon, adoption is a big consideration for us.
