    • Sometimes....when I get nervous......
      • The feelings I have about receiving this award can only be expressed in one way and that is through the words of the every popular 1990's SNL character, Mary Katherine Gallagher with this monologue from the Made-for-TV movie "A House Without A Christmas", starring the Tony Award-winning Mr. Jason Robards.

"Oh, Daddy! Oh, Daddy! Daddy, I want a Christmas tree in this house! A big, tall, green, beautiful juniper. And we would have one, Daddy, if you weren't so grumpy all the time. And we would have.. and we would have.. we would have presents, and.. and.. and.. and we would have egg nog with cinnamon and nutmeg and Christmas songs. Oh, Daddy! I want to sing! I want to sing! Do you hear that? Do you hear that?"

        Thank you! Goodnight!

    • Give me whipped cream or give me NOTHING!
      • It has to be the real deal all the way. And preferably, I like it homemade as opposed to in a can. I prefer most things homemade rather than f…

    • Cadbury Creme Eggs: The Candy Jesus Intended For Us to Eat at Easter Time
      • Does anyone really know what is inside these things anyway?

        cadbury eggs

More importantly, does anyone care? All I know is that they are sweet, gooey goodness, covered in a hard candy shell and despite the fact that I am sure they are shaving years off of my life, adding inches to my thighs and give me instant cavities, it is just not Easter without a Cadbury Creme Egg. (Or seven, who am I kidding?)

As a child I remember hoping on Easter eve that this would be a year when the Easter bunny was feeling generous and give my sister and I each our OWN box of Creme eggs. The added bonus was the sweetness was almost too much for my sister to handle and I would typically end up finishing the last half of hers.

Am pretty sure that over the years I have eaten my weight in Creme eggs and so this year my husband and I have decided that as hard as it will be, we must resist them and see if we can go a year without them. We'll see how long it lasts. I have a feeling quitting cold turkey will only lead to him coming home to find me in a sugar induced coma, broken out in a cold sweat, mutter something about "how the bunnies told me to do it" and little bits of brightly colored foil scattered about the floor.

    • Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, LA knows fried food
      • I heard a chef on a cooking show one time say, there are two types of people: The people who love fried food and the people who won't admit they love fried food.

        I would have to agree.

Everyone who is close to me knows that I love the fair and all it's fried glory. But regardless of how delicious I find it to be, it is by no means fancy or high quality. Enter, Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, LA.

Cafe du Monde does one thing and one thing only: beignets. Fried, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and loaded with powdered sugar. They are heavenly.

    • I won't forget the Crazy Christmas Couple costume of Shelloween 2008
      • Crazy Christmas Couple
For the past 4 years we have thrown a Halloween Party, or as we refer to it as "Shelloween." Each year we try to top the last. I am afraid, after Shelloween of 2008, it was no longer possible to top.

We decided, to decorate the entire house for Christmas, fake tree, lights, Christmas cookies and all. I wore a stunning corduroy and plaid romper dress with an embroidered Winne the Pooh snow scene on it, with sexy white tights and black flats. Grant wore an awsome Christmas tie, sweater vest, dress pants, white sneakers and the best part of all a mistletoe hat.

        We looked amazing.

Also, we found 10 versions of "Jingle Bell Rock" and had those on repeat for most of the party. These versions included, the "Alvin and the Chipmuncks" version, the Micheal Bolton version, the spainsh version (Navidad, Navidad, Navidad ROCK!) and of course the all traditional version.

Seing peoples faces when we answered the door with a plate of Christmas cookies was priceless.
