    • Is Listening to the Radio Dead??
      • I don't know if I am out of date but has the 'New' generation really stopped listening to the radio as much? As a kid and teenager I enjoyed nothing more than discovering new radio stations; And I always have had a love for Music.

But Yes I sure do listen to the radio namely X-FM based in London and Manchester too. For me they play my genre of Music, mainly Indie and even more. It may not be the Biggest station in the UK but they do have a loyal following.

So Plinky's Question "Do you ever listen to the radio anymore?" has my answer below......

Heck Yeah! I find it strange to be asked this Q by Plinky; Are we that consumed with technology such as MP3's players, MP4's players iPods, and the like that we no longer listen to Radio any more in favour of compiling our own favourite songs to listen to only?

I don't know if it is a generation thing because I see youngsters all the time with their earphones in listening to music they have downloaded or uploaded, but I wouldn't necessarily see that with much older people.

I personally fall down the middle line; Brought up with this technology? "No". Familiar with it? "Yes". Needing to catch up with it? "Had to". But...I still love listening to the radio.

There is just one station I stick to 95% of the time as I enjoy the music and the presenters are a lot of fun and very amusing . Even my Cat likes it- as soon as he heard a Guitar on the TV the other day, his head shot straight around to look at it which proves to me he has taste!! After all, he listens to the same radio station for company when I am out! ;-)

I think that if you can find a station that you like and offers a range of variety from presenters to certain music slots throughout the day, then you would be more inclined to listen to it. So for me, my Radio Station is on a lot when I'm home and it's great to listen to what new music is coming out.

I would L-O-V-E to hear others thoughts on this because I can't be the only one who listens to a radio more often than not. Being without it I would feel quite sad. What media do You favour most and Could You live without listening to the radio? I'd be very interested to hear :-)

    • What I Love About My Home Town :-)
      • I hope this post inspires you to look around your own home Town or City or Village and see what great things are there!

Town Square, Downham Market - sign

What do I love about my Home Town??? Quite a lot! The People I meet, The huge variety of shops, It's not too big and it's not too small. An abundance of Coffee shops to meet friends or sit quietly alone drinking anything from frothy Cafe latte's to Hot Chocolate in tall glasses with whipped cream on top!

All shops with goods ranging in prices to either splash out on something luxurious or tighten the buckle and buy some attractive things at more modest prices. Hairdresser's, Beauty Salons, Barbers; not 1, not 2, but many from which to choose.

Clean Pedestrian areas, Town sweepers keeping it that way. Security...cameras that watch out for our safety, local Police Officers patrolling, Community Support Workers keeping a watchful eye, Guards in the Shopping Malls: All add to it being a place of safety.

Entertainment, Bars, Public Houses, Wine Bars, Night Clubs, A fantastic Cinema with an iMax and 3D choice. Fine dining or fast food joints for a quick bite to eat, not forgetting the British fry-up Cafe's...It's all here.

Our Town has been built around Community, great Services and people who care and those that go that extra bit further and work that bit harder to make our Town one of the nicest places to be.

Of course there are places not so great and people not so great either, but is that not in every Town or Village? It's what you make it; what the Towns people make it is what makes this a great Town especially when mixing with those that appreciate it as much as I do.

Points of view too. I could look around and find all the negatives and focus my attention on those; But having lived in a few places, this is the one I appreciate the most. I'm glad, for now, that this is where I live where I am and writing this has made it seem even brighter...

        Thanks Plinky!!.

    • Feelings around 'Sarcasm'
      • Sarcasm can be intentionally cruel. It can be fun too. But it can cause uneasiness between friends because if someone makes a sarcastic comment to me I will retort back with an equally sarcastic comment so they know how it feels and I'm basically standing up for myself. I find it can be one trying to belittle another which is not right.

The picture in this post, for me, depicts an 'ugly' side of laughter if I am making sense here because it's not the prettiest picture of someone laughing so I feel it is fitting for sarcasm.

        “A-maze-ing Laughter”

I love sarcasm ONLY when I do it to my hub because it is innocently winding him up and I can't get enough of it! It can be very amusing indeed and I send his blood pressure soaring for a split second and when I laugh he's realized I was playfully messing around with him and he relaxes and laughs too :-D !

However...sarcasm can be very nasty and some people ARE horrible and they do make sarcastic comments that can really offend, even upset others. What's worse is when it is intentional, portraying a negative message. But there are some people that don't realize that they are doing it and they really do not mean any harm; as annoying as it can be, it's just the way they are and can be forgiven as they mean no malice. But the former do and it's those folk that need to be kept well away from.

Going back to my hub, he can get sarcastic with me if we are having a little tiff but I pick up on it straight away, tell him to (laughingly) drop the sarcasm and again it gets amusing then in the end and we are ok again :-) <3 !

I'm sure I have heard that "sarcasm is the lowest form of wit"; But isn't wit harmless and not intended to cause offence? So I'm not sure if I wholly buy that saying.

Anyway, there can be a time and place for it and with whom and needs to be used with caution! :-p

    • My Farthest away Friends and Family
      • Plinky's question is "Which of your friends lives farthest away from you"?. Well in my case it's my 2nd family, all of them that live farthest away which makes it perhaps harder.

I'm just glad that the telephone, Mobiles/Cells and the Internet makes it possible to stay in communication otherwise it would be horrible. I love them all to bits and when I visit it is a really special time for all of us.

Green Heart (And the Green Grass Grows All Around, All Around)

So my adopted 2nd Family live up North (UK) and I live down the South. We are close like sisters and I am especially close to the sister who is roughly the same age as me. 2nd Mum & Dad live up there too.

We all used to live nearby each other but through the price of housing and where a couple of my adopted siblings Husbands came from, they all as a family decided to move up to the North.

Mum #2 regularly gets sent a bunch of "Virtual Flowers" just to let her know I am thinking of her, miss her and to keep her spirits up. Dad #2 takes more of a back-seat although when I am in crisis he is there.

Us sisters keep in touch near enough every day by text, e mail or phone and they have always been there for me unconditionally and that's why I think we are so close.

We met by chance really and kind of instantly clicked; I don't know what it was really but the girls I would invite round and we just formed a close relationship. A friendships value is tested by time and there's and mine have stuck through the years.

I'm going up for Mum & Dad #2's 40th Wedding Anniversary soon and will stay a few days. It will be great to spend time with them but I know that it will hurt when I have to leave and say goodbye then come back home.

It's a visit that will be bitter-sweet but still looking forward to it :-)

    • Ever Thought About Writing A Book?
      • Have I ever thought about writing a book? Hell yeah! It's something that has been in my mind since my 20's. When? well now is not the right time as I have more to learn in this lifetime. So I am "in training" for when I have collected enough material to write about all the things that I wish to. They will be Non-Fiction, although some of that can be woven to create stories, short or full length. I already have a few ideas up my sleeve...

        Books to be returned...

There are 2 books that will be written in mine and my partners retirement.

1 of them I will be writing the life I have had and the trials and challenges along side the disadvantaged circumstances I went through and how it all changed.

The 2nd one will be, again in retirement, the story of my partner and I's meeting, what we went through, the challenges we faced and a whole lot more which will be shared in the book because some of it is very out of the ordinary.

Other's will be on specific topics which we both or singularly experienced that will be worth sharing with the world. And all these will be in our retirement so that we are keeping our minds active which is important as you age.

Fiction I will probably rule out as I had a go at it and at the time it wasn't for me but that may change. And when I have had my kids I may again think perhaps about writing books for children.

Poetry? perhaps. I've never been one for poems but a few have seemed to come out of nowhere which are on my blog-the only ones I have ever written. Although the technique is not there, I am seeming to be urged by some unknown force to copyright them, so poetry could be a maybe.

I definitely am writing books but it will wait until I am much older so I can draw on many more life experiences and of course wisdom.

And you...Do you have a book desperately wanting to come out?? And what would it/they be about??

        Immie :-)
