- If I Could Predict the Future
-
I've always wanted to go to someone who could read my palm or cards and tell my future. I actually have a friend who used to do Tarot readings for me and it was pretty amazing how accurate she got me in pretty much all the times that she read my cards - especially during our last reading. I've always been curious as to what will happen to me in the future. Where will I be working? Where will I be living? Will I be traveling? Will I have a boyfriend or a husband? Will I have kids?
Lately, I've been feeling more anxious to know what is going to come up for me. I feel like a big event has happened to me in the last 2 weeks or so and I want to know what it is going to happen on that front - BADLY. Plus, I'm also leaving home for the last time on the 20th to pursue my MA and after that who knows where I'll end up and that scares the living daylights out of me! Especially knowing that it's basically up to me to survive (without my parent's support I mean).
I think I'd want to know those things. Pretty badly. Particularly at this point in time. Then again, it's always a scary thought having your future read out to you especially when you don't know how you're going to get there. If it turns out bad then you'd try everything to change it (wouldn't you?) but that could just end up even worse for you. Or if it turns out good, you'd try everything your power to make it go that way but that could also lead you to making things fall towards the worse end.
Oh life, so complicated even in hypothetical situations!

- Perfect Stormy Days

dark-clouds-over-downtown-manhattan
The perfect weather depends greatly on my mood, my current location and my reason for being in that location. Lets say for example, I was finally on one of my very rare work holidays and decided to go to the beach. The perfect weather for me would be a nice bright sunny day WITH a cooling breeze that passes by every now and again which will cool off my burning skin after lying in the sun for lengthy periods of time. Of course, the sun will compensate from the cool winds being too cooling; but all in all, sounds like the perfect beach weather to me :)
Now, if I'm at "home" (currently: Phnom Penh, Cambodia) the perfect weather for me would be rather dreary in other people's eyes. I love the smell in the air before the rain arrives, I love the smell in the air when it's actually raining and I most especially love the way dark clouds engulf the blue sky in its roiling wake and turns the day pitch black in an instant! Then of course, it has to be cooling or at least cold and not the shoddy humid that it just so happens to be here before, during and after it rains. I miss the cool that comes with rain and that's the only thing that's missing from having 'perfect weather' here in Cambodia (in my opinion). Ah well, beggars can't be choosers right? ;)

- School Again!
-
Yep, definitely going to go back to school. I'll hopefully be getting a Masters degree in Development or International Social Development.
Since I've started working I'm actually more excited than ever to get back to school. That makes me sound like a real nerd, but I think I've had enough of my time here in Cambodia. I'm really ready to get back to having that school routine and proving to myself that I don't suck in school and that I can get good grades and do really well. I'm ready to make up for the 'mistakes' that I made during my undergraduate years and really making a difference in my studies for both myself and my parents.
Hopefully I'll be going back this year. I never thought I'd say it but I'm REALLY looking forward to going back to school now!

- Not Leaving Home Without These!
-
There are three things that I can't leave home without: my phone, my iPod and my wallet. All for the obvious reasons.
My phone has kind of become my lifeline ever since I started work - it not only keeps me connected to my work email (is this what a workaholic sounds like?) but it also keeps me connected to the 'outside world' where my best friends live (Australia, India, Singapore etc)
My iPod... Well, I think that really does speak for itself. I'm one of those people who can't get through the day without listening to at least 3 hours of songs. No joke. Besides, it's a life saver when work gets dull and I need a picker upper to get my brain kicking again!
My wallet. Well, I don't have my own mode of transport here (save for the family car/driver which isn't always at my disposal) so I have to use a motodop (motor taxi) or a tuktuk (google it). Gotta have the dough on me at all times! Plus, I need my dose of coffee ;)

My most recent shopping splurge was probably today and funnily enough it was at the supermarket -___-''
I am one of those people who LOVE to go grocery shopping and in fact I tend to go a little wild sometimes! I find so many amazing foods at the supermarket - the majority of which are JUNK - and I always end up buying at least half of the new things that I see. It's pretty bad especially since I know I shouldn't be eating these things and they're not very practical at all (but then again when you go on a spree/splurge most of the things you buy aren't really practical or necessary).
Today I bought more cereal, more bread, more Pringles/chips, more peanut butter, more potatoes, more cream and a lot more 2-minute instant noodles. I have all of these things at home but I decided that why not go all out 'just in case' I run out of these goodies when Khmer New Year rolls around and all the shops close! That would be particularly bad. So yeah, because of this 'forward thinking' (yes, I will call it that) I ended up buying much more than I needed and even though I cut out some things before heading to the check-out line I still ended up spending $52.00 on groceries and that's A LOT for a few days' worth of goodies in Cambodia (don't know about anywhere else).
Oh, and then there are the multiple DVDs that I bought... Stocking up for the days alone at home. Yep, that's right, I'm stocking up! Sigh. Up it goes onto the bookshelves full of the DVDs I already have. Fantastico!
