      • In response to: "Even if you aren't a chef, what's your favorite dish to prepare?" I love making Acorn Squash Risotto, with acorn squash, arborio rice, saffron, parmigiana, tomatoes and parsley. It the produces a beautiful looking, great tasting dish.

    • I Loved This Book's Setting
      • the real star of this book is Dublin

While so textured with literary tricks and magical word feats and ostensibly a parallel of Homer's Odyssey, the real star of this book is Dublin and taken literally it is about a single days journey through the complex city at the heart of Ireland. Joyce is a master of language and much of his puns, allegory and inferences are still being figured out. Some say the entire book is written in Iambic Pentameter.

    • My Random Five-Ingredient Recipe
      • A perfect, earthy compliment to Poultry or Pork

        Butter
Melt then saute the rice for 4 minutes before

        Arborio Rice
No substitution will work. Make sure you stir constantly, adding liquid a 1/4 cup at a time and test, test, test so you do not over or under cook it.

        Mushrooms
Dehydrated - Wild Mix, Shitake or Morel Soak them(in three cups water), cook the excess liquid off them in separate pan then use the soaking liquid as the stock to cook the rice...Add mushrooms after adding the last of the liquid.

        Salt
        Add while adding liquid

        Parmesan Cheese
Add at the end and stir for one minute

    • I Wish I Could Ask This Person for Advice
      • I suppose there are any number of historical figures that I would love to ask for advice, but if among them I was given the opportunity to pick one and it had to be just one, it would be Rainer Rilke without hesitation. Rilke is a famous, romantic/transcendental poet from Germany, whose poetry is filled with mystical, wise, elloquent phrases and imagery; full of music and light and romance. Rilke has not only been a guiding influence to me in the way that I write and create, but in how I live as a writer, creator, lover and person. In times of trouble, or when I feel the creative energy building in me to a point of critical mass, I will make my way to the bookstore and purchase a copy of Letters to a Young Poet and read it repeatedly for weeks. When I am finished and found what I needed to in the book, I find someone else who might have need for it and give it away. I have done this for going on 20 years now. The book, while wonderful and useful to me, does not answer all of the questions I would have him answer. So many questions about writing, about relationships and about how to overcome uncertainty, creative energy lulls...I would be in heaven just listening to his responses
