    • When I would leave a party
      • Note: most of these situations are things that I have not and probably will not come across.

Alcohol (under aged or under contract)
If there are people under aged at a party and alcohol is involved, I'm out of there, even if it isn't opened yet. I haven't been to any parties like that, but I would be out of there in a heart beat. It's not that I hate alcohol (I've never drunk it, except a sip in Ireland and a sip in Nicaragua) but that there is illegal activity. Drinking under these conditions isn't good, and I don't view it as culture, but as illegal. I feel that making something seem 'ok' to do is not a compromise I want to make.

        People are getting crazy drunk
Like the the answer above, I don't hate alcohol, but I believe it can be misused and people shouldn't get drunk. If one of my friends was drunk I would hall them away and drive them home (assuming I was the designated driver, which I probably would be, if I were to go to a party like that).

        People getting into hotmesses
When licentious activity starts climbing, I'll leave and bring as many people with me as I can. I want people to remain pure, not filthy.

        Illegal or Immoral Activity
This is kind of what it all boils down to. If something is going against my conscience, the law, or the Spirit is telling me to leave, I'm out of there. I'll try to bring people with me because I don't want them to fall into temptation either.

        Introverting or Awkwardness
Sometimes one in the same. There are days where I don't want to be around people, the atmosphere feels awkward, or I just don't know anybody. This is the only reason I have ever used to leave a party (because I am an introvert). Sometimes I just don't have fun and I know I won't enjoy it if I stay so I end up leaving. Nothing bad may be happening, but I can still feel uncomfortable and leave.

      • Cutco ice cream scoop
This ice cream scooper is amazing. I'm a little nerdy about it, but that's ok. Every time my friends come over I show it off. The scoop takes heat from the handles and sends it to the scoop to melt the ice cream. What I generally do is take a piece of ice and place it on the scoop and we watch it melt really fast. It's like magic! Also, when you set it down on the counter, it doesn't touch the surface so you don't get ice cream all over your stuff. The tip of the scoop is pointed so you can glide right through the ice cream

        Blender
I lover blenders. I used to make milkshakes all the time. I would look in our freezer and see if we had any frozen berries, sherbet, or whatever and mix it with ice, milk, or orange juice. It really depended on what we had. It tasted so good in the hot summer days.

        Toaster
Who could live without a toaster? You can toast bread, bagels, ego waffles, etc. I wish we had a toaster oven because then I could make toasted sandwiches like Subway or Quiznoes.

        Microwave
This has to be on any list of modern MUST HAVE kitchen utensils. We use it so much we almost take it for granted. It is an amazing machine and does things very fast.

        Bread Machine
I love making bread. I usually make egg bread or potato bread, but I've tried a few other kinds. I really want to make homemade sour dough, but it isn't an easy process (thanks for showing me Disneyland) but it would taste SO good. I'll try to do that some day.

    • How I Fight Cabin Fever on Snow Days
      • You mean like this past weekend? This past weekend me and my fellow crew leaders (minus Ryan, sadly) got snowed in at a mansion in the mountains. It snowed over two feet in the two days we were there and we didn't even leave the house for 48 hours. During that time we watched a straight 3 hours of Modern Family, Farkled, played Kemps, bared our souls to each other, ate meals together, and planned SOS out. Ryan was there for a lot of it via Skype, though it wasn't the same. I will probably remember this weekend for the rest of my life. We all shared our testimonies and all cried at one point or another. We found our who was in our crew groups, planned Mock Rock, and just got excited for SOS this year.

One thing that wasn't so good was that we laid around a lot and never stopped eating all the snacks. By the time I got back to campus my hand was shaking from all the junk in my system. I was feeling better that next day, but I will never forget that great weekend.

    • A Fortunate Failure
      • There are so many times that I have failed, but God has been good to lead me to something better.

Between 7th grade and sophomore year in high school I worked on a worship team for 3 year olds to 5th graders called P3. No, we didn't play instruments, but we used motions. I was one of the original members, and probably one of the longest members.

Anyways, after my freshman year I had significant power in the program, including putting my input into who got invited onto the team. Though I was too late to recommend a team for the normal Sunday service, I planned to make one for the Saturday services. I came up with all my plans and got a list of students that would be good to have on the team. This list included Kyle S, Trevor W, Melanie, Mariah, and Kimberly, all recommended by my youth pastor.
In order to get to know them better I decided to help with our junior high choir, 1/3, for the sole intention of gaining influence over them. This part was a success, but not for the purpose I was intending on.

After a few months I loved these kids, but I found out MY worship team was not going to be possible. A Saturday night service was not going to work out. I failed in this, but it turned into a blessing. God was moving me from working with elementary aged students to junior high students. I had to let go of 1/3, which was hard, but if I hadn't I wouldn't be where I am today.

Today I have confidence that God has called me to youth ministry. I have worked as a junior high intern at my church, been chaplain at my school, worked in Biola's orientation service, and worked in various youth groups. I would not be here if it wasn't for the mistake that God had planned to use for His glory.
