The popular answer seems to be to move city A toward city B, one being the answerer's current residence (usually the stationary one), to minimize the hassle of going from one to the other in order to visit peeps, recreate, and whatnot.

However, the situation is far from so simple. Ignoring for the moment the negligible efforts required to relocate an entire city, one is still faced with the objections of most of the people involved. There would probably be environmental ramifications, too. Just think of the politics involved! Sorry, people, but moving cities, except perhaps in a very few instances, is flat-out ridiculous--especially when done for such selfish reasons.

If it's easier travel you want, I've got a better solution. Instead of changing the relative positions of the endpoints, why not change the route to make it is short as possible? I'm not suggesting here that we burrow through the earth to make the path from A to B a straight line. While a slightly less ridiculous suggestion than the original, this is still rather a silly and impractical one.

What am I getting at, then? Why, traversable wormholes, of course. Now that I've mentioned it, I've no doubt we all agree it is obviously the optimal solution to our problem, so I won't waste any time expounding upon that.

But now the question becomes, "Which two cities would you prefer to be linked to each other via spacetime portal?" Aside from having one of the cities be my own (more specifically, in my attic or some such place, for exclusionary purposes), I haven't a clue. You see, I've never really been anywhere that I considered all that special, nor do I have far-away acquaintances whose company I'd value enough to fix the second mouth of the tunnel at their locale. I imagine I'd have to do a heck of a lot of exploring before coming to a decision. Consider the nearly limitless possibilities, with not only earth-bound spatial travel but temporal and inter-galactic/inter-universal transportation as well.

I guess that's enough geeky daydreaming for one day. If you'll excuse me, I need to get back to serious work: my homebrew ASHPD still demands a bit of tweaking.
