I can block out someone talking...I do it every morning on the way to work, just pop in some headphones and I'm done. With a "starer"...you just can't do it. Even if you close your eyes, you can sense them...their crazy eyes staring you down, wondering what your hair tastes like...or if they could get any closer, so they can smell what you had for lunch with their hairy, oversized, flaring nostrils! Try getting THAT out of your head when you close your eyes!

The oldest place I've been is the Porta Nigra, Trier, Germany

While stationed in Germany with the USAF, I was able to visit some amazing historic landmarks. The Porta Nigra had the most impact on me by far. To stand there and realize how many important people had stood in that very spot was awesome.

"The oldest defensive structure in Germany, the Porta Nigra was erected in about 180 AD when the Roman city was surrounded by walls. Trier was a Roman colony from the 1st century AD and then a great trading centre beginning in the second century. It became one of the imperial capitals under the Tetrarchy at the end of the 3rd century, and became known as the "second Rome."

The Porta Nigra is the only one of four Roman gates that still stands in Trier; the others were gradually pillaged for their stone and iron. The Porta Nigra survived because it was used as the humble residence of a hermit monk named Simeon for seven years (1028-35). After his death he was buried in the gate and the structure was transformed into the two-story Church of St. Simeon (lay church on the bottom, monastery church on top).

Napoleon destroyed the church in 1803, but the 12th-century Romanesque apse survived and the entire structure has been restored to its medieval appearance."

Taken from http://www.sacred-destinations.com/germany/trier-porta-nigra.htm

I've seen lots of cool things in other countries, most of which I can't tell you about. But this one's ok. During a flight to Costa Rica for a missions trip, the pilot took a wrong route (how does that even happen?!) We were forced to land in Cuba. We were eventually (after sitting on a hot plane for at least an hour or two) taken off the plane to a bus with windows missing (I'm pretty sure they were shot out). We were escorted by armed guards from one plane to another before loading up and flying out. At the time I was going into 9th grade so the whole thing was a little scary. Looking back it was kinda cool because not many people can say that they were escorted by armed guards in Cuba

My vice? Why should anyone have to defend their vice?! I mean come on, vices are AWESOME! They hold things together...they can grip things...what's there NOT to like?

I guess it all started when I had these two pieces of wood that JUST...WOULD...NOT...STICK! I needed some way to hold the wood together. It was just a one time thing. I never realized how dangerous vices could be. Soon, I was gripping things everywhere I went...

I would even sneak in a little grip at church!

Before I knew it, my life was falling apart and there were no more vices to hold it together. I knew I had to stop.

What? Oh, THAT kind of vice...

Yeah, I'm totally an alcoholic. It totally sucks...

It never was like that, but times have changed. When they change back, I'll get home with time to enjoy the day before getting ready for bed.
