- If I Were President...
-
"Why?", Mike Luckovich, Pulitzer-Winning Political Cartoonist (1 of 4)
If I were the President the first thing I would do is tell both parties to grow up and realize they are there to get a job done. They need to stop acting like 4 year old children in the sandbox. Currently they act like a bunch of whine temper tantrum babies not caring that progress is not being made. I would not worry about being re-elected as I would be there to be honest and say what we all know is to be true and in some cases a harsh reality, but I would tell it like it is. No party lines - issue lines. What is going to serve the best interests of the majority, while not alienating groups of people through hatred and bigotry. ALL HUMANS in my administration would be equal with equal rights to enjoy and mess up their own destiny. Internationally I would let it be known that we are not the police of the world. If you want our service there is a price to pay as the American people will not and should not pay to protect others. English would be made the mandatory official language. Education the number one priority educating all - with no social promotion, but promotion based on merit. Those coming to the US will be provided with an opportunity to learn English. My mission would make being an American something to be proud of. As I write this I am beginning to grasp why Mr. Obama looks like he has aged over 10 years.....damn I dont want to be President of anything!

- My Sense of Humor

Title Wall - Humor Us at the Municipal Art Gallery
To me humor is anything that we ourselfs can relate to and have experienced, thus knowing the pain, anguish, stupidity, embarassment of that experience. I personally like witty sarcastic humor as it too is a reality check. I also personally feel that if you can not laugh at yourself you have no business laughing at anyone else. Life is too short and I use to tell all my kids (students) if we laugh its not at you its with you because we get it and been there ourself. In any bad situation we have two choices to cry and give up or laugh and attempt to find some humor in the situation as hard as it might be. Laughter is the best medicine.
Being a middle school teacher in communities with high levels of poverty I have become very good with the Mama and dissing humor, which of course is done with the complete understanding that I am playing and attempting to point out to them how dumb, hurtful and meaningless it is. Laughter is a great learning tool, when you get a kid to laugh at something done and point out how silly its is they get it. I will also admit even though I hate seeing people hurt, some of the video clips on America's Funniest can simply make you LMAOROTF.
I hate humor when you feel that it is being done to passify you.

- Professional Goals for the Next Year
-
My professional goals are crucial as I am too young to let any disability stop me. I plan on getting myself well and return to work in education. The classroom may not be the spot, but somewhere that I have the ability to bring about the change that is needed in order for our schools and kids to succeed. That of course would mean having the ability to see karma bite those that pushed me into the situation I am in. I have thought about running for school board or even starting my own educational consulting company being that I have over 10 year international corporate training experience.
