somewhat aggresssive
One might find that my compassion for others diminishes once they are in another car... especially when they are strangers. I don't like people driving too slow or too fast or too strangely, and I'm not afraid to show it.

I don't like backseat drivers
I am a backseat driver but I hate other backseat drivers. This may be a sign of narcissism, but I'm willing to overlook that. I try not to be too obnoxious when someone else is driving.

backroads
The purpose of a road trip shouldn't be to get from one place to another, but to see as many things along the path as possible.

A horn, rent, a computer, a dog, a plant, a house, brass repair tools, a masters degree, a vacation... I guess I just save as much money as I feel I can, and I look to buy whatever item is most needed. There are always things I want or need for which I need to save money, but most of them are a little too far away in the future for me to worry about right now.

Why do people relentlessly ask this question? And why did I have to pick one answer? Nature, life as we know it, obviously took a very long time to develop a chicken and a chicken egg... I suppose the egg came first (as other lifeforms produce eggs), but it certainly wasn't a chicken egg.

But the answer to the question isn't the point. This question is so often asked, usually but not always jokingly, and it kills me that I can't figure out why. What a silly question.

Silly.

i recently had surgery and was very limited in my activities for a few days before regaining some form of normalcy. My woo hoo, or contented sigh of relief, accompanied the departure of some of those limitations (to go further into detail might not be kosher). Woo hoo's, I think, often happen at the release of tension in one's life... just as in a significant amount of music, life can possibly be viewed of a series of rising tensions followed by release, sometimes better or more significant than other times. Even a surprise woo-hoo, like getting a raise, seeing a falling star, winning the lottery, a phone call from an old friend, will probably release some kind of tension that you didn't know was there...

Wolverine is just great, especially as played by a certain Australian, but let's concentrate here. Tasmanian devil? He's bad, he's mean, he's nuts, and he can spin to create a personal tornado. Wolverine can heal fast and he's got those sharp claws (does the tasmanian devil also have those?), but I just can't believe that some claws and protective biology are going to stop a devil of a tornado.

And I'm done. Because this was a silly prompt.

Unprovoked rudeness directed toward someone working in customer service or food. There's a special place in hell for people who make the life of a customer service driven employee worse. To quote the show firefly: "reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theater." Well.. maybe its not that bad, but after years of working in customer service (and I'm sure a few more to come), it can be a sore spot.

ipod
Possibly the essence of current (last 5 years) entertainment technology. Certainly something to remember... like personal computers around 1990.

select tv/radio episodes
Things that reflect the sentiments and the happenings social/political/cultural happenings of our time. Episodes of This American Life, Bill O'Reilly (sadly has a huge following), the Daily Show, comedies, etc.) Though this is not a single item, I suppose all of them could be put on a video ipod, so let's combine item one and item two.

Harry Potter Series
Like it or not, Harry Potter is one of the biggest things to happen to literature, for any age, in the last 10 years. People shouldn't forget how completely this series effected culture.

Obama victory headline
We've heard it thousands of times: Obama's victory is one of the biggest happenings in American history.

A homosexual marriage certificate
The fight for civil rights never stops, but this has been a huge time for gay people, good and bad. Milk, Westboro Baptist Church, inclusive marriage laws in the northeast and Idaho, legal sodomy in Texas, and more.

Mission Accomplished Picture
In 40 years, there will probably still be insurmountable conflicts in the middle east and other areas of the world. This should provide a laugh.

General Motors Owners Manual
American car companies will undoubtedly be very different in just 5 years, much less 40. This marks the end of an era, and should be recorded.

Pictures from my own life
It doesn't specify, but if this was my own personal time capsule, I'd like to add something that would revive forgotten or faded memories of loved ones, apartments, places I frequent... something that might make me cry for good or bad reasons in 40 years.

Currently, because I need some new regular-looking everyday clothes to wear through the summer, and I don't have much money to spend on them. Target usually has a good selection, and it's conveniently located with furniture, household items, etc. Of course, I won't be able to find everything at Target, but I'll be able to spend much less at the specialty stores by going to target first.

I've recently become involved in a good relationship, and that commitment, however strong it is, makes me want to do more things, to be happier, and to surround myself with good things. Somehow it's harder to want when I'm alone. I don't think it's necessarily any feeling of love, though that might exist. Its much more the commitment I feel that causes me to work harder, not just for myself, at happiness. I suppose this isn't as much about what I've recently learned, but more about what I'm finally learning: to figuring out the reasons to care about my future career/personal life.
