    • A home without a cell phone
      • My apartment building is like a supernova for cell signal. So basically, I live without my cell phone every minute spent within 15 feet of my studio. At first it was isolating and not in a good way. There were nights spent alone at home wondering if there was somewhere I should be or someone I should be with. I mean, if you ever call me without leaving a voicemail, I literally have no way of knowing that you did.

Now I find the isolation a bit comforting. It's like being stuck on a warm island with all your favorite books and snacks. Who'd want to interrupt that?

    • I realized I was a grown-up... just now!
      • I've always said that I'll never consider myself a grown-up until I start paying for a car (and car insurance). Renting a studio apartment, taking care of a pet, traveling the world alone, paying off my student loans... Seems to me that if I can do it, any kid could too!

So perhaps it's the collective, which means adulthood snuck up on me...

    • My favorite place to hear music: The Fillmore
      • It's historic. How can you not love a place that's been giving away red delicious apples and fancy cardstock posters since the '60s?

(It helps that I've had some of my best nights swing dancing, gypsy punk jumping, and twee pop swaying there. Plus, it's where I saw my first concert at 15!)
