      • Yes, I do blog. A lot, although I suppose you have to define what you mean by "a lot." Technically I have four blogs, although one is only a demonstration blog. That still leaves three blogs that I write on a daily basis.

Why so much writing? The easy answer is that two of them are part of my effort to get a teaching job. Since I am certified in both science and English, I have one blog about books and reading and writing, which I've been working on since 2009. The other blog is about science, naturally, but I've only just started that one recently. I don't have a lot to post there yet, but that will change, I'm sure.

Actually, I wish I had time to write more. I just recently acquired a used laptop, and I'm doing more writing now. I enjoy writing and wish I could make a living at it, but for now I'm content to do it more or less for free.

I don't read a lot of other blogs, but there are a few cooking blogs that I enjoy following, since I also like to cook. I also like to follow Wil Wheaton, who has always something intelligent to say and can say it in an intelligent manner.

Walk (too big for stroller) and White Whine are always interesting. And after finding about Bob Cringely's Christmas cards, I'm following him, too. There are others I could follow, but I have to admit, although I enjoy composing on the computer, I find doing a lot of reading on it to be tedious. I will often print out posts that I like and read them that way. And that's another reason that I like Wil Wheaton, because like me, he styles for print.

If we're talking "Star Trek" style teleportation--let's head down to the transporter room, where someone else handles it and watches us dematerialize--then it would definitely be somewhere in México, probably in the Yucatan, or anywhere in the Costa del Sol. No checked baggage, no tickets, no aduana.

But if we could have a little handheld self-controlled teleportation device? Then the answer would definitely be "the bathroom." Worried you've got something in your teeth? Think your hair needs a combing? Need to pass a little gas? No problem--just teleport to the bathroom, take care of your business, and then teleport back to the party.

On the other hand, I would only use this if I could somehow verify that the bathroom was empty first. Maybe this isn't such a good idea after all.

I would probably spend it practicing my moonwalk. Why not? If you haven't made your peace with God, it's probably a little late at this point. (By the time he gets around to your message in his inbox, it will probably be more than too late, assuming his spam-filter hasn't deleted your message.)

Everyone around me could probably use a little entertainment. Electricity will probably be out, to say nothing of satellites, the internet, etc. A little DIY entertainment is just the ticket to get everyone right through to the end.
