- Living in Other Countries
-
I have never lived outside the state I live in, much less outside the United State. However I have traveled to almost all 50 states and to Southeast Asia. I would consider living in the city/state of Singapore in Asia except for the humidity. It is so much higher than I am accustomed to. I love the city itself though because it is clean, modern, safe and full of opportunity. I would also consider living in any U.S. state where there are mountains and cool summer weather - Durango, Colorado being one of my most recent favorites. I love the Seattle area as well, though I would choose to live in a suburb. The temperatures are mild year round and the humidity, while higher than in other parts of the country, is tolerable because of those mild temperatures. The older I get the more I understand the snow bird phenomenon! Extreme temperatures are harder and harder to tolerate these days. If you have never traveled our U.S. National Parks, they are fabulous and I strongly recommend them - especially those with lodges - though most of them have wonderful camp ground areas as well.

- My Favorite Summer Sound
-
From Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary
My favorite summertime sound is the circada concerto that occurs in the evenings during the dog days of summer. The air is alive with the hum of these small creatures. It reminds me that every season has its own unique sights, sounds and smells.

- My Favorite Form of Exercise

I love to do yoga, specifically the sun salutation routine. Once I learned teh routine I could do it without thinking about the steps and focusing getting the most out of each pose. My favorite place to practice when I was first learning by video was my living room, very early in the morning, in the dark. Later I joined a yoga class at the senior center (I brought the average age way down) and it was good because I really enjoyed the instructor. Finally, when we moved to a smaller city, I joined a local yoga studio and it is definitely my favorite place. It's a very small house converted to a one room studio. The walls are painted white; the floor was wood plank and the windows were covered with canvas roman shades. It is a very zen-looking place. I have done Tai Chi a few times and I would love to get into that someday soon. I think I'm getting inspired to start going to class again!

- Time Flies When You're on the Web

Most of my time online is spent doing research for work or home projects, scanning Facebook quickly to see if my son has new photos online (I don't do games, long conversations, reposts, status updates), and most recently Plinky and blogging. I enjoy Plinky- I've always kept a journal and Plinky let's me warm up a little for journaling and explore new topics I wouldn't think of otherwise. There was a time I enjoyed online interactive games, but that got to the point that it felt a lot more unproductive than the things I do now.
