I prefer to watch someone else do it, because then I know what mine is supposed to look like and how they did that. If I only hear someone describe it or read about it I can't fully get the picture in my head. Also, if I just try it myself I won't know if I'm doing it right or wrong. For example, when I was learning my full (a skill I learned at cheerleading) I needed to watch someone do it before I knew exactly what mine should look like. Although, it does help when someone describes what I'm supposed to do. I think that in that experience with learning my full it made me more confident and helped me get over my fear when someone showed me how to do it because I knew that if they could get through it then I could too. It helped me to be more driven to try it, because it looked really fun and I was determined to accomplish my goal. When I'm learning a new skill, watching someone else helps me to get a clear idea of how to do the skill and how to do it well.
