- Money and happiness...
-
The questions was posed, do you think money can buy happiness?
Perspective has much to do with the answer to this question. I believe regardless of how you answer this question what makes it right for you is you. How you answer is the basis by what you value in life.
For me I value love, honesty, and respect rather than material possessions. Money may buy temporary happiness but soon the money is gone as is the happiness that it brought. I remember a folk tale I read once. I believe it was of Asian origin. A stranger was seeking shelter for the evening during New Year. The stranger was welcomed in the home of a rather poor family while being turned away by the rich man up the street. The father said the family did not have much but what they did have the stranger was welcome to share. The stranger was surprised but very thankful for the hospitality. The next morning just as the stranger was getting ready to leave, he revealed himself as one of their Gods. The God said for your hospitality and kindness I will grant you one wish for the New Year. Without hesitation, the man wished for love, which surprised the God. The God asked why have you not wished for luck, prosperity, or happiness; do you not want to elevate your family out of poverty? The father explained that only through love are luck, prosperity, and happiness possible. Why would I only settle on one for my family when I can have all three?

- Architecture I Appreciate
-
There are several famous buildings I like, many I love. For me architecture is just as beautiful as a Monet painting. I don’t know why I find old buildings so intriguing. It could be a combination of their beauty and endurance. I also think about what the architect’s original vision or intension for the building may have been. For me it is the details in the building’s ornamentation that helps tell the story of the building and its designer.
Since the ornamentation on a building helps me learn the story of a building, I find it difficult to have passion for industrial or modernist buildings. These types of building I believe began in the 40s and continue today. Many consider buildings with lots of ornamentation inside and out, garish or tacky. To me it is like painting without color. A building like a book has the ability to tell a story, a grand story with many long and short chapters. Unfortunately just like books, building can be tossed aside for bigger, better, and newer buildings. One of the most interesting cases to me of this is the city of Petra in Jordan.
Petra like many ghost towns was a capitol city that thrived on trade. It was on the major trading routes of its time. What intrigues me so much about this city is its buildings, and the ability for it to exist. This city is believed to have been built in the 6th century BC possibly earlier. It is in the middle of the desert near a flash flood zone. Beyond all of that, the entire city is carved out of stone. The town is situated in a crevasse, amazing! Even more amazing Petra was unknown to the Western World until the 1800s.
In 1986, Petra became a protected landmark.
I have yet to see this wonder. I suspect it would be well worth the trip.

- A Favorite Food from a Restaurant in My Hometown
-
There are actually 2 places that are a must when I visit my hometowm. Both restaurants are local places.
The first one is a pizza place. This place has the best thin crust to their pizza without the crust being completely hard like a cracker. It is crisp but still flaky. It is hard to describe except to say it is a must try. They also have some of the best combonations. The Combos are so different but spot on.
The second one is a fast food burger place. I worked there in highschool and although the place wasn't the best job. I still come back for the food. My fav was a hot fudge shake, sooooo good! It is also one of the cleanest places in town.
I should know I spent many nights washing down the damn walls mainly because one of the supervisors hated me. It had to be done and she always made me do it. Needless to say of all the jobs I've had over the years washing the walls at my first job made me decide then and there I never wanted to do it again.
It has been a while since I have been back to visit. In fact I'm well overdue for a visit. I should visit sometime soon so I can get my pizza fix!

- How I Stay Healthy
-
Walmart's Healthier Foods Annoucement in D.C.
For me becoming healthy is my passion, I have replaced sugary highly processed foods with all natural foods. All natural foods being fruits, veggies, 100% whole grains, lean meats, and no dairy products. I take vitamins to supplement my nutrition. I don't rely in it though.
I also walk a mile & a half a day.

- Things I Have No Patience For
-
I have opinions on many things. Most people who know me well, know when I don't like something I am rather vocal about it. I can't disguise my disgust for things I don't like or things that irritate me. The top three things I have no patience for are pure stupidity, bad drivers, and elitists.
When it comes to stupidity I look at it this way, if you are of average intelligence and a functioning member of society then you were given a brain that functions well. Use it! Even the least educated person on the planet has the ability to problem solve and think.
As for bad drivers, I would wager this is a top 10 for most people. However, everyone has his or her own definition of bad driving. For me it is people who don't follow the traffic laws of the governing state combine with people that are scared to drive but do anyway. The other is the too stubborn to admit they shouldn't drive but still refuse to give it up. Biggest driving foul I see in Seattle is the inability for people to merge on the freeway. They give you 300ft use it! Don't go 10ft then wait for someone to let you in, this backs up traffic.
Now to finish off with the worst annoyance to me of all. I have zero tolerance for elitists. This type of person I have less time for than anyone. I will go out of my way to ignore them. Their occupation of space on this planet is irritating to me.
I can't say I haven't been guilty of being stupid time to time or making poor driving choices. But I will admit it when I do it and call myself out.
