- I'll pickle myself in coffee in Bilbao, Spain
-
i want to be a shrivelly old woman in a green coat and scarf drinking coffee in the park, reading a book. how euro.
I can think of nowhere i've seen that was a lovely and sweet as Bilbao. I have etched into my memory a vision of a narrow and steep lane with white houses and tiny plant-strewn porches, cats in windows, steps away from neighborhood coffee houses. i love a country so devoted to the concept of siesta. and i'm close enough to everything else that i can get into a train and go to paris or amsterdam or lisbon or everywhere else in europe and feel connected and worldly and still get home by next week.

I read this book in one sitting. I though my sister was crazy for giving it to me. She is. And i'm glad she did.
mostly you have to laugh at how uncomfortable you feel. then you laugh because you know it's satire and for that matter, nobody is watching. and then you, even moderately educated middle class european descent twenty-something you, get knocked on. ouch.

What dreams am i letting slip away? at the ripe age of 25, my priorities are turning agricultural:
See Chernobyl
from what i understand, its terrifyingly quiet there. something about a place where time stopped appeals to me.
get over my fear of heights
hello! its debilitating and stupid and keeps me from being able to move forward in my career the way i'd like.
learn good graffiti lettering
nothing says a life lived to the fullest like having credible lettering. it is an art like any other, and its one that fascinates me.
have orchids
i love making things grow. one of my greatest joys comes from my plants blooming, and i'm ready to move on from hibiscus and geraniums to something more refined and finicky.
seriously cut plastic out of my life
i'm all talk here and not enough action. i don't consume things that come in plastic nearly as much as the average jane but ive not yet come to terms with bringing my own reusable coffee cup, for example. and i still get my indian food to go even though it comes in evil styrofoam.
Stop needing my car
i guess i'm really there now, so when do i take the plunge and go car -less? i'd like to live a life where i don't find myself dependent on it but i can feel better about having it around being that i'm the only person i know who drives. that makes me the go-to girl for moving heavy things around, airport drop offs and drives out of town for real hikes. i'm torn.
farm my own farm.
i've got the chicken coop. i've got the back yard standing idle, waiting for some gardening and a goat perhaps, to milk. it would save me money and make my soul richer, to go egg collecting in the morning, and eat greens i tended from seed... i must sound like a hippie.
