With the exception of Santa Claus the others are no more than fairytales which can be fun for young children. Santa Claus, on the other hand, was based on a real person or persons. I see him as a symbol of good will and an opportunity to thank those who mean the most in your life.

When parents and family member give presents from Santa, I believe they are doing it in the spirit of Christmas. In some ways Christmas is more real than Jesus Christ.

No matter where you stand religiously, there are some questions surrounding the Biblical Christmas Story.
When was Jesus born?
Where was he born?
Where did the wise men actually come from?
and so on.

I believe Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year for Christians, Jewish folk, and non-believers. It's a time to say thank you to your fellow man and wish him peace and goodwill.

Leaving The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit out of the mix there have been a few. If you count graphic novels, Frank Miller's 300 & Sin City are some of the best, but that would be cheating a little bit since a graphic novel serves as storyboards for the movie. If I had to pick one it would be Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

I view faith differently than most people. Many have faith in a high power. Some don't believe in anything. I believe we must have faith in ourselves and believe we can achieve great things regardless of the existence of a higher power. To me belief in God is irrelevant. He exists or doesn't, nothing I do can change that.

I chose to live my life believing in myself and trying to create as much positive energy as possible. Negative energy is unhealthy. I do believe in karma of sorts. If you always treat people badly, eventually bad things will happen to you. If you are kind and treat others well, good things will happen.

I like to warm an empty fry pan. Once hot I drizzle some olive oil in the pan. Ideally, I like my eggs over easy, but if I am making an egg sandwich on toast, I'll break the yolk and turn it over long enough to seal it up. I like to add soy provolone cheese and maybe a leaf of lettuce.

If I want scrambled for breakfast burrito, I crack the eggs into the pan with the olive oil. I don't mix them because I like the variety of egg and yolk marbled through the eggs. Once the eggs start begin to cook, I'll use my spatula to break the yolks and chop the eggs until they are cooked. Finally I add the eggs, Mexican cheese, and some Franks Red Hot for a delicious breakfast burrito. If you have time you can add bacon, peppers, or onions.

Seven Samurai is probably my favorite foreign film. Akira Kurosawa's work is timeless. Many of his films and storytelling techniques have been incorporated into other movies including The Magnificent Seven and even Star Wars: A New Hope.

I am also a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki, the Walt Disney of Japan. Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away is probably my favorite Miyazaki movie. Disney has re-released several of his films in the U.S. over the past few years including How's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Tortoro, and Ponyo.

Outside the box is my most hated cliche. I don't believe in the creative mind being 'in a box'. The only time I spent in a box was as a boy I loved it when we would buy a new TV or fridge and I could turn it into a clubhouse, spaceship, or submarine. It's like the spoon scene in the movie The Matrix. Neo asks the the boy how he bends the spoon and the boy responds "What if the spoon was never there?" There is no box. Don't put yourself in one.

I have TMJ, it typically flares up when I am stressed. I gnash my teeth and the muscle along my jaw becomes inflamed. The pain starts behind my eyes and in my jaw. After a while I become sensitive to light, loud noises, and begin to feel nauseous. At night I usually wear a retainer to keep from grinding my teeth, but stressors during the day sometimes cause a flare-up.

The best treatment is a nice relaxing nap while listening to soft music on my iPod. Maroon 5 seems to be my music of choice as of late. I don't necessarily sleep, but I do relax for 20-30 minutes and feel rejuvenated. This could be considered a power nap. If you have never tried one, the next time you feel run down, just kick back for 20-30 minutes and tune out the outside world and let your stressors go for a bit. You will find yourself energized and ready for more!

Adding a Flux Capacitor would make any car a dream ride. Think of the places you could go. I would visit myself as a child and encourage myself to make ideal decisions to allow my future/present self to follow my dreams.

What do President Bush Sr. Jay and Silent Bob have in common?

George H.W. Bush
He was running for president in 1988. Our school attended a campaign stop and I made my way to the front of the line and was able to shake his hand, pat him on the back, and say "Nice speech, George." That was before 'No New Taxes'.

Chewbacca
I was in line to get my VIP pass for Wizard World convention and I was standing behind Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca. I doubt too many people knew who he was out of costume, but he was very tall, thin, and had a large mop of hair on his head.

Kevin Smith & Jason Meows
Better know as Jay and Silent Bob from the Clerks movies they were both in attendance at the Wizard World convention. Kevin was the guest of honor and is very fun to listen to. Jasan on the other hand must have had a late night was passed out on the floor of the convention center.

This song killed this hard rock band. The pushed the envelope of the concept album. Little know facts: The guitar riff from 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' is from the Extreme song 'Play with Me'. Their lead singer filled in as Van Halen's frontman until David Lee Roth came back.

awesome
A product of the '80s awesome became a part of my Lexicon, much like dude, but awesome goes a step further. Awesome is a state of being. Referring to oneself as awesome shows confidence equal to that of Captain Morgan. Your are master of your domain and do not will not let anyone or anything get you down. It's a state of mind.

freedom
A word many of us take for granted. We are lucky to have freedom from discrimination, a tyrannical government (bad example), the freedom to speak freely, and the freedom from religion.

We get to decide. Freedom is worth fighting for, worth dying for.
