Once you begin to start outlining your every meaningless act and thought on facebook or through a tweet, that's when I think you've crossed the line. I also don't think it's appropriate to post online if you don't want your boss, coworkers, or your elderly grandmother to see it. People should use discretion on their personal details and attitudes, unless it is very important to share them. Even when you do decide to share bits and pieces of your life online, make sure that it is something that really has affected your life. If it is very meaningful to you, then I think it's worth sharing through social media. I see it as a way to celebrate my own accomplishments and build my self-confidence, as it seems to be the same with others.

    • six-sentence saturday: fate
      • I wholeheartedly believe in fate. I think back on what's happened in my life, all the important events and changes and decisions and actions, and I think - what if? What if I didn't go to Cody's birthday party and didn't meet Greg - my whole life would be completely different. I like to think I was meant to meet Cody, and meant to go to his birthday, and meant to meet Greg that night, and meant to kiss him at his car that night. Many might say it's coincidence, but to me, it seems much more powerful than that. One choice can determine how your whole life will turn out - and to me, that's fate.

    • 2011 in 12 Sentences
      • In January, I shared my first kiss of the new year with the love of my life. In February, I spent my first Valentine's Day with a boyfriend. In March, I went to New York City with my mother, saw a Broadway show (How to Succeed with Daniel Radcliffe!!), went to museums and Times Square and Chinatown and toured a college that I didn't end up going to. In April, the production that my best friend and I directed and starred in (Crimes of the Heart) ran for three days and ended with a cake fight on stage. In May, I partied the night away at my senior prom with my best friends. In June, I performed on my high school stage for the last time, sang with my choir for the last time, received a promise ring, and graduated from high school. In July, I turned eighteen years old and celebrated with my two best friends at Disneyland. In August, I packed up all my things and moved out of my house and into the dorms. In September, I started college at CSULB, hung out with my new 49er friends, and started my first job at the dining hall! In October, I saw my school's basketball team win the homecoming game. In November, I studied my ass off for midterms and finals, and relaxed with family and my best friends for Thanksgiving. In December, I took my first college finals and passed every single class, finishing off my first semester with five As, a B, and Credit for Pre-Bac math; now I get to spend Christmas with my big family and my boyfriend.

What an amazing year :) I feel so blessed that I accomplished so much, and I want next year to be just as busy and exciting!

    • New Year, New Me: My 2012 New Year's Resolutions
      • I actually have a few New Year's resolutions, which are basically my goals for how I want this next year to go. I am an adult now, which at times feels liberating and exhilarating, but mostly, it scares the shit out of me. Life is exciting, but is getting to be very exhausting on my mind, body, and spirit. I do not want to lose sight of what is important but I also do not want to sacrifice my own well being just to make others happy, not anymore. So, here are the five resolutions I have decided to follow for 2012!

        1. I will put my health above all else, meaning I will make getting enough sleep, eating right, exercising more, and keeping this new healthy routine consistent my highest priorities.

        2. I will create for myself a monthly budget and keep track of my money wisely, working towards the ultimate monetary goals I've set for myself: to decrease my future debt, save for study abroad, and to secure affordable housing for me and my future husband (I do not even want to go into what our wedding will probably cost...yeeeesh).

        3. I will study more frequently and in more depth, especially with my full workload for next semester (I'm taking Journalism, Creative Writing, Poli Sci, Philosophy, and Folklore and Mythology) and in preparation to apply for the Honors program.

        4. I will write my ass off this entire year and absorb as much as I can to prepare for my future career.

        5. I will enjoy myself, wholly and completely, by spending time doing things I love with my friends, family, and loving boyfriend.

So, there you have it - they're in writing so they will just HAVE to come true, hahaha! I actually cannot wait for the new year to start, because I will be sharing my first kiss of the new year with my boyfriend, Greg, in Yosemite, where we will be ringing in the new year with his parents and siblings. I have never been there before, but I am beyond excited to go and experience its beauty for myself. So, here's to the holidays, to the loooong break from school, to the good times that await us all in the future, and to all the New Year's Resolutions we all have made and will continue to make (and eventually, break - cmon, you know it's true!) Personally, I'm going to write out my New Year's Resolutions and put them up in my room, so I can see them every day and remind myself that 2012 can be one of the best years of my life - but only I can make that come true.

So, what about you? Have you thought about your New Year's Resolutions yet?

        ~Megan :)
