Be true to yourself. You can't live for your friends or your family. It helps if those people follow you and love you for being honest, like mine did, but you'll be better off in the long run if you pursue your dreams.

Because my name is "Michael" I get a lot of strange looks when I am called from the waiting room into the interview area. One job interview, however, was especially memorable.

I was applying as an apprentice for a graphic design firm and every time the interviewer said me name, she'd giggle. This went on throughout the interview and I was almost to the point of tears. When it was over, she apologized. Seems that all the people who worked on her team were named "Michael" too and she said it would be a pleasure having a "beautiful Michael" for a change.

Another coincidence was that they got several Michael Jackson contracts and I missed getting to meet him in person. He died one week after my orientation had been completed. I came so close to meeting one of my favorite singers by only a few days.

Lately it's been Rebecca Black's "Friday" song. I didn't really like it at first but it's really growing on me. I think that she has talent and a lot more physical and mental stamina than I do. I don't like all the haters who are saying that she can't sing because, if the truth be told, they wouldn't do a quarter as good as she did. If I were still thirteen, I'd want to be just like Rebecca Black.
