- Overheard at My Own Funeral
-
I won't hear anything. No one's at my funeral, because I told everyone I didn't want a funeral. Seriously, I think they're a waste of money. I told them to have a party and play some Prince music, if they need to get together when I'm dead, and to dispose of my body in the cheapest possible way. Life will go on. I hope I will be missed. PARTY UP!

- My first plane trip, from Jackson, Mississippi, USA to Los Angeles, California, USA
-
I was excited, but I was annoyed because we had to dress up (we got the tickets through a relative who worked for the airline). I loved seeing the clouds close-up and getting to choose what barge I wanted. Gum? Really? After that trip, I've not been on an airplane with a bar (most of my subsequent flights seemed to have been on bicycles with wings attached). I remember being so impressed by the in-flight movie (unwrapping the headphones and plugging them in was a big deal! I even liked the food.
Can we do that again?

- If I could tame a wild animal
-
The first thing I thought of was the tiger. If I gave it more thought, I might come up with something else, but this will do for now.
TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?!
--William Blake
Had to memorize that poem in middle school, and I still like it. But how on earth will I work in "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan..." or "It little profits that an idle king..." or even "Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote...?"
