Dawson and I find a treasure

During the summer, the boys and I spend many hours at Ken's dock along the Mississippi. Usually, I am relaxing in the sun. However, on this particular day the sand feels good between my toes. Soon Dawson pleads, "Let's build a lake in the sand." Sand is flying as the hole get bigger and deeper. Water from the grand Mississippi flows into our "lake." Soon Dawson's hand hits something hard. Instead of digging deeper, he reaches for a long, rugged looking piece of drift wood. Poking and pushing at the sand, he reveals an object. It is mucky and wet with a few leeches clinging to the curved edges. Unfortunately, the inside was only filled with sand and lacked a letter to a long-lost lover.

If you were to walk into my mom's house today, you would see this treasure sitting on the fireplace just waiting for a message and a journey.
