- Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of
-
2011 was all about my last semester as a college student. I focused on finals, presentations, interviews, and work. But 2011 was also the beginning of a new "me."
For three months, I lived the dream in New York City as an intern for Meet Mark. I was part of the business/digital departments. I had the opportunity to discover new technologies that would help businesses (especially small businesses) flourish. Not only did I take part in creating contests and mapping out social networking strategies, I met some of the top people in the beauty, fashion, and business industries. From Rebecca Minkoff to Eva Chen, I learned their life stories and their career accomplishments. OH, and I did get to visit the Google offices in New York.
Can I live there forever and ever?
In New York, I met some of the most amazing and influential women, made long-lasting friendships, reunited with family, and discovered myself as a recent college graduate.
Now, I just have to find something for this summer to top that...

- The Nokia Generation
-
I received my very first cellphone when I was 14 years old going into high school. It was a simple Nokia cellphone with very little features. I used it to call my parents... and showed it off because I was the only 14 year old in my group of friends with a cellphone. Since then, I ended up with a new cellphone every year because technology sure did evolve! Yes, I am now a victim of the latest technology fad: iPhone 4.
Having a cellphone at a young age is unnecessary. Why have a cellphone if your parents or guardians are always with you? I have seen kids around 9 or 10 with iPhones glued to their ears... and their parents are right there with them. Who are they calling?!
I believe that 14 years old is a reasonable age to have a cellphone. You want to be with your friends more than your family, but your parents are still watching your every move. The cellphone is here to save the day - parents can call or text and children can hang out with their friends. Or, you have after school activities. Phones are useful to call for pickups.
If you are 14 and over and reading this post from a cellphone, hello and welcome to "adulthood." If you are under the age of 14, what do you think you're doing with a cellphone?
