- Favorite Park
-
My favorite park is Central Park in Manhattan, New York. I love the fact that it's so big. When my daughter was about two my mom and I were dead broke but we didnt want to stay in the house. It was about 6 in the evening and we decided to go to Central Park. It was the middle of July and even the evenings were 90-100 degrees. We packed up the baby's stroller and headed into Manhattan. It was wonderful.
The park changes so much from the way it is during the day. There's a mysterious aura about it that I just love. The grass smell is so thick and intoxicating. There are so many couples outside with their babies and golden retrievers. Everyone seems so happy and magical.I can't wait for it to get hot and steamy because my daughter and I will be returning to our little slice of heaven on earth

- A Dangerous Situation

I was six years old and my great aunt was raising me. She owned a daycare and it was a little past 5 in the evening. I knew what time it was because parents were starting to come and pick up their children. My older cousin was there and she was waiting for her mom to come and get her. My great aunt had just put my little brother on time out because he had done something dumb when the doorbell rang.
It was my cousins mother and there was a tall brown skin man that came in ehind her. I glanced at the man and ignored him because I didn't recognize him. My great aunt noticed that the man had come in with my cousin's mom and she said "oh, you bought Brandy with you, how nice". Brandy was another cousin of mine my cousin's mom said " that isn't brandy". The man was standing next to the chair that my little brother was doing his time out in. He pulled a gun out and pointed it at my brother's head.
I ran to sit on a bed in the living room with my neighbor and my cousin. The robber threatened to shoot my brother I my great aunt and my cousin's mother didn't give up their purses. My great aunt took her wallet out of her purse, removed her id and credit cards and threw her purse at the robber's feet. "Please take the pocketbook and leave" is what she said to the robber. He stood there for a minute, confused I guess before taking off running out o the apartment without the purses. My brother asked I he could be done with time out and of course my great aunt said yes.
When the police came to get my aunt's statement they let my brother and I play with their flashlight and handcuffs. My brother and I forgot all about the
