I actually went from Sydney to Brisbane and then on to Melboure. Three absolutely mad days that were completely worth it. Rock and roll, and all that you know.

I'm no stranger to distance, my family live in South Africa. But distance wise, this is the furthest. We actually met in a series of improbably circumstances online, and while it's not a romantic relationship, I'd say it is one of the most important relationships I've ever had. We keep in touch in every medium available to us - msn, email, facebook, twitter, a mariad of other sites, as well as the occasional text message. If we go two days without speaking it feels like a life time. We visit each other whenever possible, even if it means going halfway around the world.

He'd definitely help pass the time, plus I could take advantage of the situation to whine about my uni degree and the literary types I have to put up with. I'm sure he'd understand. Also, he'd Twitter about it which would be highly amusing.

I think two people would be the most I'd be able to handle (and might even be pushing it) before I lose my mind and start clawing out my eyes or something similarly pleasant. It's something I really hope will never happen to me.

I loathe this song. Every fibre of my being objects to it to the point where I almost feel physically ill. I don't know why, it's just the way things are. When I hear that sax intro I want to run screaming into the night.

Italian food, definitely. Pizza, pasta, not to mention gelato. It all sounds very promising to me. Especially lasagna. Yum.

Write a novel
I want to finish writing something big, not just messing around with stories that come in half way or that I never conclude. I have so many ideas. I wish I could just hook my brain up to a computer and have it record it all.

Finish scripts
There is a tv show my friend and I dreamt up in '07, and I'd love to get the all the scripts finished. Just to get it out of our heads and onto paper. These characters mean so much to us, we can't let them go to waste

Have a song written for me
Completely out of my hands, but I would love to have someone write a song for me. It's such a dream-like situation. It's something I've always toyed with but I think it gathers a lot of strength from my strange, intense obsession with 'Fairytale of New York'.

See the world
Around the world in 80 days! Perhaps it should be amended to see something I hadn't seen yet. Something like the Aurora Borealis. Actually, definitely need to see that.

So maybe I'm being obvious, but come oooon! This movie is based on the premise of a story being read to a sick child, so surely it's designed for convalescing. It's good-natured fun, with a bit of everything on offer. From pirates, sword fights, and mythical monsters, to giants, royalty, and romance; this movie has you covered.

Similarly, also consider Robin Hood: Men in Tights. That never fails to induce epic amounts of glee on my part.

Labyrinth is another option...two words, David Bowie.

I love Tuscany and I've had nothing but wonderfully relaxing times there. Since we're talking retirement, it seems apt. There's something wonderfully appealing about sitting in the sunshine, looking out over vineyards, and writing.

Oh, everything about this book is utterly hilarious. From the character interaction to the chapter headings, it's completely glee-tastic. I never thought I'd say that about a TW book, let alone one involving a body swap. When it comes right down to it, I love reading these books. It's complete visceral entertainment, it takes me little time to read and requires nothing of me but to sit back and enjoy. This one though is complete and utter crack fiction. Still, it had me in hysterical fits of laughter 99% of the time (and I really am in love with the chapter headings.)

And ok, I realise that unless you are one of the poor souls self-exiled to Torchwood fandom, this probably won't mean anything to you. In which case I recommend Bridget Jones' Diary. Apparantly it (and it's sequel) is the only book I own that has any comedic value. Unless you count the plays...but now I'm just rambling, aren't I?

The sharpest lives by My Chemical Romance

Cause I love all the poison away with the boys in the band. Epic road trip music. Although listening to MCR has ended in speeding fines in the past, so be warned.

Reading things like this takes a certain level of concentration, and when I started I just kept getting distracted with other things. Now I feel like I'd have to start again, and I just can't be bothered. It's sitting there though, just waiting.

Except for being more outspoken and so much cooler than me, I was very much the same in High School, both in my disdain for popularity and a penchant to vandalism. Also, the sarcasm and the complete self-imposed isolation. Oh and let's not forget the angry girl music of the indie rock variety.

It's sweet, without being inane. I also find it cinematically quite captivating. Besides, it has Johnny Depp in it. That alone would make me feel better.

Namely that given by a random stranger. Running for a bus once, I was stopped by a guy who told me quite seriously "People in leather jackets don't run." Quite profound *rolls eyes* If I have to adapt this to something useful, I'd take it to mean you should live for yourself, and do things at your own pace for your own pleasure, and not to anyone else's specifications.

I'm taking this from the getting from "point A to point B in a day" perspective. This little trip was part of a vacation, and the tour we were taking started in Amsterdam. It was quite an enjoyable journey really, except for the blink and you'll miss it stops. "Quick, look to your left, it's Belgium! Oops, sorry, too late."

I'm not really big on the straight up road trips, I cash out real quick and fly instead.

I couldn't really think of a book that changed my mind or opened my eyes, but LOTR definitely impacted on my life by introducing me to fantasy [and subsequently sci-fi], gave me a real passion for the complexities of writing itself, and then with the movies turned into my first real fandom. I re-read it every year.

Life of Pi gets an honourable mention though, for being the book that came the closest to what I'd say was "opening my eyes" - just such an oh wow moment. Gorgeous novel, just beautifully told.

My mother seems to think Jaffa [Tel Aviv, Israel] is older, but since I can't really remember that, I'm sticking with the Colosseum, which I've visited quite a few times.
