I wish.
I actually don't have an answer for this, but it's the kind of question I wish I had the opportunity to answer, so I'm going to respond to it anyway. Where I live, there is no public transport apart from the school buses, and I'm not sure they count. It's one of the many things I don't like about small-town life; you have to have a driver's license and a car to get anywhere, and the places you would want to get to are few and far between. For people who don't want to spend all of their time in the woods or in their homes, there aren't many choices. Going to Wal-Mart is a social opportunity. So is shopping in a grocery store. (I'm sure this says something about our commercial society and dependence on big business in America, as well. In more populated areas, there is more opportunity to make moral decisions about where your money is going.) The isolation is something some people choose, while others just have to learn to live with it until they can escape to the city. Thank goodness we have the internet.

The practical answer to this question would probably be something that can include all of the major food groups, like salads or sandwiches or soup, but really.... I think I would choose crepes. I love them, and they carry that essence of France and chic-ness that many people who don't live in France (and possibly many who do, although I wouldn't know) associate with it.
