Actually, we didn't make it all the way to Duck Creek. This was the only way I could get it to show on the map. When we were first married, my wife and I made a trip up Cedar Mountain from our home in Cedar City. A freak snowstorm came in behind us such that, when we turned around to go home, we were taken by surprise and started skidding toward a 150 ft. cliff...with no guardrail. Angels attended us somehow and we veered into a ditch on the other side of the road. But shortly afterward a truck with a massive lift kit pulled the same maneuver and just about squished my wife against the mountainside as we checked our damage. Angels were working overtime that day and somehow the truck veered away from her and hit the back of the car, which hit me and knocked me 10 feet away. Even knocked my wedding ring off my finger. Scariest day of my life and certainly of our 3-month-old marriage at the time.

The good news was that my friend and I were able to find the ring, almost buried in mud, three weeks later after the snow had melted a bit.

Everything. Every kind of automobile (including ones from movies), furniture, toy, kitchen utensil, nic-nac...you name it. Acres and acres of stuff to paw through and gawk at.

Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster is my new room mate, of course. Love that guy. He tries so hard, but in the end the cookies get the best of him. Just like me.

To a bunch of elementary school-aged kids at a sleepover party, everything was scary about this movie.

I haven't seen it because, well, it's the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've heard enough about its content to know it's just a porn flick masquerading as comedy. No thanks. That's not how I roll.

It is a 2000 seat amphitheater surrounded by the cliffs of Zion National Park. Live concerts throughout the Summer.

You are not your own.
The current culture says that people can do what they want without worrying about the consequences to others. Again, so not true.

If you succeed, it's because God helped you. If you fail, it's because you rejected God's help or it's not His will for you.

Love God and love your neighbor.
Everything else hinges on these simple commandments.

Pay an honest tithe and a generous fast offering.
Give God the tiny 10% of your income that He's asking for in return for the Earth He created for you and everything in it. Give to others not only what you have in surplus, but also that which you must sacrifice to give. (Fasting once a month is a good way to clean out your system anyways.)

Frosty Morning Web

Internet, web, and now social media are my vices. I enjoy connecting with people and filling my head with useful knowledge. I'm also lucky in that I've been able to build a successful career with my vice.

I'd quit if at some point I found that my career no longer depended on it (yeah, right) or I just came to a point where I got tired of keeping up with it all, decided to move to the wilderness and live off the land, and write manifestos on the dangers of technology. Wait...

I like people-watching in airports because that's where people are more their true selves than anywhere. They're tired, frustrated, and frazzled. You get a unique view into the window of their lives, especially if you eavesdrop a little on their conversations. You don't have to be stalkerish...just have a book or other activity to cover up your curiosity. :)

Whirlpool

An old hot tub that was bought second-hand and installed well before we bought the house from the original builder/owner. The hot tub is about 10 years older than the house (talking mid-80s here, folks). The heating element just won't go above a certain temperature without blowing its breaker.

I think the last thing I bought from an infomercial was when I was in high school in the early 90s. It was the Roll-o-Ruler. I bought two of them, one large, one small, to help me with my geometry homework. I'm still using them for carpentry projects, my kids' school projects, cub scout projects, etc. They're great for transferring lines, drawing arcs, and creating accurate parallel cuts.

Shannon and I went to Rio de Janeiro last February. There were mountains there.

I miss the mountains around Kanab.

There were some canyons there, too.
