- I Heart TNT

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program is an amazing program, and surprisingly not well known to those outside the sporting world. It's a program to help anyone (even the least athletic person) train for an event that will amaze them. The coaches work with you every step of the way during your training for a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, hike, or walk. They're amazing, and if you've ever wanted to try something new, with great coaching, while raising money for the fight against cancer, I would recommend TNT (Team in Training) hands down.

Quote: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT) is the world's leading sports charity training program. TNT's dynamic, hands-on training program enables participants to realize their dream of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, century ride or hike adventure.
For two years we have worked with these wonderful people, and we're considering year #3 this summer.

- Hockey is in my blood
-
Hockey is my favorite professional sport to watch. I grew up going to the Fort Wayne Komets games with my family. It was a fun, and the special time sitting in those frigid arenas solidified my understand the game. I love the chill of the room, the sound of sharp skates cutting ice and the anxiety of outcome.
2 years ago my husband and I canceled cable TV, and since we live in the boonies, we're basically a no-TV family. Including sporting events.
[pausing for the collective gasp]
Canceling TV has been one of the best things we have done for our family. The biggest loss for my husband and I, though, is the loss of hockey and the other sports we loved to watch. But, as I mentioned in my post the other day; I have more time for the one-on-one time that really matters. Shouting at the TV to athletes who can't hear me doesn't compare.

I'm learning to walk into the light
Entertainer reads the "Stage door enquiries" sign in a JCW theatre, Sydney, 1938 / by Sam Hood
As I get older I'm getting more confidence. One of those areas that is gaining confidence is getting up on stage. I use to long to be on stage, but lacked the confidence to actually do it. Since I've been going to my current church, things have changed.
One small step after another, with the guidance from my church family, public speaking has opened up a fun world for me. I've gotten comfortable getting up in front of people and opening my mouth. I've discovered that not only can I do it, but I really enjoy it. Through my life, as I've been influenced by other people, I've allowed people to convince me that I should be scared to be in front of other people. They didn't mean to do it, but their fears were casted on to me. Now, with friends encouraging me these past few years, I've learned otherwise.
I've even acted/danced in a Theater Company production, with no speaking parts. And, maybe one day I'll try out for a speaking roll. But until then, I'll talk to myself in front of my mirror imagining I'm speaking to an auditorium full of people, with really nothing important to say.

- In defense of my vice: caffeine
-
Caffeine. When I was a new mom, getting up at all hours of the night, I started drinking coffee. Now, with digestive issues, I gave it up a few months ago. I still drink tea to get my caffeine, but the coffee-kick-in-the-butt is gone, and I really miss my cup of Java. There was comfort in that. I'm beginning to feel comfort in my tea, though, and the caffeine headaches are long gone. But, I will always feel a longing when I smell coffee, no matter how many thousand cups of tea I sip.
