Provided you have any extra, just don't buy everything you see. Cook at home, but eat decently. Buy store brands, or the regular brands if they're on sale for cheaper. Look at coupons but don't go insane with them.

If you find a decent bank, get a savings account. Even if it has a low interest, the fact that it's in a different account adds one extra step to getting it out so you can spend it, and you're that much less likely to blow it all.

Focus on needs first. Don't get too uptight, though, or you'll go insane. If you really want something, wait for a good sale. Shop around, but don't drive halfway across town to save just a few cents.
