- The Liberty Bell: a beautiful work of art
-
When I went to visit the University of Pennsylvania, my family and I decided to visit Independence Hall, where the Liberty Bell is held. While in Independence Hall, we saw posters that described the history of how our country got started and the history of how things came to be today. When you walked further into the museum, you say a huge bell in the middle of ropes to keep people away from it. This bell is known as the Liberty Bell. Next to the Liberty Bell was a spokes person telling the viewers all about the bell and what it was used for. The spokes person told us that the bell was first rung to summon the citizens of Philadelphia to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. This bell was not only used to summon citizens, but as a symbol. It was adopted by abolitionists as a symbol of their movement.
I think that this bell provides great history for our country and serves as an appropriate icon. To me, this is one of the most beautiful piece of art in the United States.
