Most people who know me would probably say I'd spend a long time reasoning my way through the issue - and they'd be completely wrong! My gut has nothing to say about little stuff, but all the really big choices I've made have been gut-directed instadecisions. And they've worked out very very well.

Isn't that what jobs are all about?
Money wouldn't persuade me to do something I consider immoral. But I've spent many, many days of my life doing things I didn't especially enjoy or want to do, because otherwise sooner or later I wouldn't get that paycheck. And so have most adults.

Has anybody ever tasted "Circus Peanuts"? Those big orange blobs made out of chewy marshmallows and flavored with banana extract or some such thing? When I was a kid I thought they were edible. To be honest, I thought they were delicious.
They aren't. Delicious. Or edible.

Okay, since you ask, I suppose the biggest thing I'm hiding is what a flawlessly nice person I am ;) ! Wait...what do you mean, you don't believe me?

Isn't that something we do all the time, if the memory's unpleasant or embarrassing? (True, there are unpleasant memories that people can't get rid of no matter how hard they try - but I'm talking about ordinary unpleasantness, not the traumatizing, PTSD-inducing kind.)
I think there's a normal tendency to edit the story we tell ourselves about our lives, and pushing memories that don't fit into the background is part of that process.
