- First Memories.

Leaning against a pram in our garden, watching my two little sisters.
I've never thought about my earliest memory before, but now going back, I realize that there's nothing I can remember before this one. I must have been at least 3... because I'm two years older than my sisters, who are twins. We were in the garden, and I could barely stand on the little bars of the pram to peek inside it. I think my mother was somewhere nearby with a guest, probably talking about us... I know we have a picture from that day, but even without it, I remember how I was watching my little baby sisters... they were so small... so alike... and yet I can't remember ever mixing them up.
There's a chance that my brother might also have a memory from the age of 3... well, I'd like to think he remembers when my dad brought him to the hospital the day I was born... and he gave me a drawing of red roses. I only know this from another picture we have, sadly, I don't have the drawing anymore...
I'll make sure the next time my brother is in the same country as I am, I'll ask him if he does remember drawing me those roses. Now I just keep thinking: how great would it be if I could?

- ... to My 16-Year-Old Self.
-
You're in for one hell of a ride.
(This is the only "good" photo I found of me at 16)
At only 19, there are so many things I would like to say to my 16 year old self...
To put it "simple", almost everything will leave a mark, and some people you get attached to might turn into disappointments. You will love, you will lose, and you will love again. Maybe you would do things differently if I told you exactly what was going to happen, but it's important to make your own decisions, even when they're bad.
Your parents are gonna feel like strangers, and lying to them is never gonna feel good. Fear of disappointing them will haunt you for what will seem like forever. And every time you say something mean to them, you're gonna want to take it back in a heart beat. But know this: they are the ones who will never leave you. Even when you've broken their hearts, your dad is gonna put his hand on your shoulder, and through that simple gesture he's gonna let you know... that you're still his little girl.
In case you were hoping for some peace and quiet, think again: you're gonna still fight with your sisters... so try and be more patient with them (you're gonna be hearing that a lot). Even though it seems impossible, it's not worth all the screaming and bad name calling.
You will disconnect from a close friend, and the decision will be entirely yours. And it will be a good decision, one of the very few you will be wise enough to make. But don't worry, you will also gain someone new in your life, a person that won't mind being woken up at 3 in the morning to listen to your crying. A person that in less than a year will become like a life-long friend. You will depend on him, and he will depend on you. Don't get any ideas though, you won't fall in love with him... and many people won't understand, but don't you worry about that, cause like I said, you're gonna need each other.
Of course, other friends will be there for you as well, there will be enough (other) numbers to call and shoulders to cry on. Good times and bad times, they'll become little parts of you, if you embrace them and share them with the people you care about, life will be a lot easier.
There will come a time when walking home at night will make you think of sad times, so don't refrain from singing in the middle of the street... it does wonders for your mood.
When it comes to your brother, be prepared for anything. You have to understand that however hard you try, you won't be able to change him. But every now and then he'll tell you that he loves you, so be grateful and learn to settle for only that much.
Believe me, at 16 you've only just tasted life... everything is gonna seem more and more intense... it's like bungee jumping backwards (you haven't done that yet btw), you can't see what's below, you're scared of crashing... but if you loosen up and have faith, the rush is absolutely amazing.

- If I could be any book charater...
-
Fanny from Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park".
Besides the fact that Jane Austen is one of my favorite writers, her main character for Mansfield Park, Fanny, is just the kind of woman I've always wanted to be.
Faithful, honest, generous, prudent, selfless, respectful... and with so much love in her heart. A shadow in her own home, someone few members of her family show interest in, taken for granted so many times... and yet she does not complain, she does not judge... keeping her pain well hidden and her love a secret for so many years.
I admired her patience, her strong will, her hopes, her loyalty, her moral back bone. If I could be any character it would be her... for though she was fragile... she did not break.

- Comfort Food.
-
Cereals, milk, cereals.
I was brought up with cereals and milk every morning. I'm actually eating a bowl right now. I suppose it's comforting because I can eat it any time any where and it takes two seconds to "make". When I'm having a boring or sad or "not in the mood for anything" day, I'll just eat cereals all day... sometimes with a bar or two of chocolate and some bananas. People say eating the same thing every day will make me sick of it... but I eat so many different kinds that there's just no way I'm gonna get enough of them.

- The night I would relive. Forever.
-
January 10, 2010.
The night I felt like the most loved and the most vulnerable person in the world. Everything felt right, everything made sense...and I started shaking, overwhelmed by the beauty of it all, speechless, utterly speechless. Powerful emotions swept over me, and I cried softly into the pillow... he panicked when he saw me... but I was just so happy.
