    • The Periodic Table = Fascinating Stuff
      • I just started reading "The Disappearing Spoon" which is a nonfiction book about the formation of the periodic table. So far it's very interesting. It makes me think of the other great nonfiction books I've enjoyed like Freakonomics and Salt. It also makes me think of the ideas I've had for nonfiction books that I'll probably never get around to writing.
I also enjoy reading fiction books. I can't wait to get my hands on Sisterhood Everlasting. I loved the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books and movies and had no idea there would be one more.
Now if I could just get done with this pesky schoolwork so I had more time to read!

    • Danger Does Not Equal Fun
      • Danger is not fun to me. If I've done anything dangerous it has been by mistake. Never on purpose.
Of course, the more you think about it everything is dangerous in someway. If you leave your house you are at risk of getting into a car accident. If you stay in your house you are not safe: fires, CO, and even weather could harm you.
Basically you never know what dangers await you. I think the recent tornadoes should remind us of this.
You never know what could happen next.

    • What to Listen to While Shipping Up to Boston
      • I just recently got a hook up in my car for my iphone. My car is a 2006 Corolla and didn't include an aux port or anything so my friend's husband put one in for me. Now I can use my itunes playlist for car tunes instead of burning CDs which I did in the past. (My car does have a 6 CD changer so that was cool.)
For my trip to Massachusetts I'm creating the mother of all Road Trip playlists. I won't mention all the songs here because 6-hours worth would be a long list, but I'll just hit some of the highlights.
"Boston" Augustana - I think the significance here is obvious. It's always the first song I listen to on my way to Boston.
"Too Sick to Pray" Alabama 3
        "Move Along" All American Rejects
"Walking On Sunshine" Katrina and the Waves
"All These Things That I've Done" The Killers
"Painted on My Heart" The Cult
        "Who Knew" Pink
        "Extreme Ways" Moby

    • Too Much of a Good Thing
      • Ick! No way. Food eating contests are disgusting. Food should be enjoyed, not slammed down. I can't help but feel bad for the people all over the world (including in our own country) who don't have enough to eat.
Plus it can't feel good when you get done. No trophy or bragging rights could be worth that indigestion!

    • Baseball, Blogs, and Buddies
      • If I'm online on my laptop I'm usually watching the Red Sox via MLB.TV or reading an article about them. I also write for bottomlinesox.com once a week. I have an app that lets me post to my blog via my phone, but I typically write on my laptop. I also write my Plinky responses on my laptop.
On my iphone, I spend most of my time with Twitter, Facebook, MLB At Bat, and updating my ESPN fantasy baseball team with their app.
