It came out at the peak of the Reagan reich and just seemed to stand for something I felt I was opposed to or in conflict with. Not even just the military glorification, but the whole idea of beautiful people doing whatever they want in the name of, or cosigned by the mainstream greed culture just felt oppressive. I've also never seen Rambo, nor watched a single episode of Dallas. Maybe someday I'll see it, outside of the cultural context of the time I may be able to experience it. Nostalgia.
