This story goes back to 11th grade in High School. I rode the citybus to school every day, the stop was right outside my house, so no matter how late I was running I could catch the bus.
The busdriver knew me, and looked out for me. One day I was running mildly late, and the bus, early. I heard the tell-tale "hiss" of the bus as is decented to make for an easier step up.
I grabbed my GAP messenger bag, flung it over my shoulder, snatched up my winter coat with my other hand and made a dash for it.
My feet didn't seem to touch the steps as I literally flew out the door. Running out of my driveway, my free arm was raised to flag down the bus. I could already hear the beep bee beep as it re-elevated itself and pull away
There was a pregnant pause, a moment of potential, would it, won't it, stop for me. I heard the sqeak, as the driver began to tap the brakes. My heart eased, and my sprint slowed to a lope, and I began to breathe again.
Suddenly, I wind was knocked from me, as my legs flipped from underneathe me, losing grip with the pavement, my arms flailed, my coat fell to the side, and contents of my bag sprayed the sidewalk.
It had snowed lightly the night before, and while most of it melted, there were thin patches of invisible ices sporadically placed in the streets, and I ran into one.
The bus that had been slowly stopping, skreeched to a halt. All eyes peered out the window, fixated on me. With as much dignitiy as I could muster, i quickly gathered together all my belongings, and boarded the bus. I was in such pain, but I wasn't going to embarrass myself further.
The bus driver concernedly asked if Iwas ok. I smiled through my throbbing joints and said, " yes, thank you." very graciously. I walked to the end of the bus, avertingmy eyes from everyone staring at me, and rode the bus, like it was any other day.
No one offered me a seat

- The Most Impulsive Thing (I've) Ever Done....
-
Sometimes I think I lack impulse. I think too much. Nike doesn't speak to me when it says "Just do it!". I say why? and how? and if? and what will happen?
So pathetically, I think the most impulsive thing I can recall doing (key word recall, I'm sure I've done something more impulsive than the following, but I'm being honest here) is buying chocolate on one of my weekly shopping trips.
Yeah, I know, real thill there.
Oh actually, I started my blog on an impulse, this was about 3 years ago and still going strong, check it out!

As a High School teacher, I better have one good stare if I want to keep my lovable impertinent kids in line, So yeah, I got one intimidating look. Very Proud.

- Do You Really Wanna Know...
-
On first thought, yes. I'd like to know if I get to open my own girl's high school, write a NY Times Bestseller, how many kids I have, and will I still be skinny.
But on second (and usually smarter) evaluation, it's better if I didn't. If I knew the future, I'd close off all oppurtunities, because I'd know where'd I'd end up, I'd stop expermenting, thinking, wondering, becuase I'll know.
Also, i'd either be crazy pressured and focused trying to figure out how to acheive what I know I will acheive, trying to figure out how to get where I know I'm meant to be that I won't enjoy the process (I'm under the assumption that I'll succeed, failure in this case would be even mor depressing).
Or if I knew where I'd end up, I might stop trying, because, well, I'll get there anyway. It takes away motivation.
So while, I think we all want to know if our efforts pay off, if our dreams come true, and will the Cubs ever win another World Series, it's best if we just experience it in Real-Time

That I'm shy.
I stand really straight, and talk authoritively, and with confidence. I'm just uncomfortable meeting new people, but instead of conveying "shy, be nice", people read, SNOB.
