    • My Favorite Comfort Food

      • I've had to really think about this question, Plinky. I read the prompt this morning and pondered all day long. I even looked up "comfort food" on dictionary.com and it told me comfort food was: n food that is enjoyable to eat and makes the eater feel better emotionally.

        Equiped with that definition, I began going through some choices. Mac N Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Thanksgiving Dinner at my parent's house, a new dessert. All of these are wonderful and will probably produce an "mmm" from me while I take the first bite, but I couldn't associate the "feel better emotionally" part of the definition with any of those foods.

        On my way home, it occurred to me. My comfort food isnt really a food. It's a drink.

        As soon as I thought of the word, I felt a joy inside me and I knew what I was to write about!

        So, I fixed myself the perfect Margarita...
        I filled my glass 1/2 way with ice.
        I poured the rest of my Master of Mixes in, about 3/4ths of the way up.
        Opened the freezer to see my buddy laying in the door - "Jose Cuervo, how was your day?"
        Jose filled the rest of the cup.
        Some salt on top.
        Stir with straw.

        As I take my first sip, I closed my eyes. Yes, this is the "feel better emotionally" part of the definition. No matter how crappy my week has been, no matter how frustrated the morons at work made me feel, no matter how long it took to drive home today, I felt...calm and happy.

        Sitting here now at the computer, sipping on the materpiece I made and listening to the Dropkick Murphys, life is terrific. Margaritas remind me of great times - cards on a sunporch on summer night with friends, mexican dinners dreaming up the future, 2am talks on the kitchen floor with my best friend, rocking out with my favorite bands on stage and sex.

        Yes, my Dears, Margaritas are my comfort food.

    • What Keeps Me Up at Night

      • I'm pretty lucky - I can sleep anytime/anywhere. I once slept under a table in a bar while waiting for my then husband's band to start playing. I wasn't passed out, just sleeping.

        But, if something is going to cause me to be restless in the bed it's the need for sex. I'll toss and turn and huff and puff until I get some - either from my real boyfriend or my battery operated one.

        Easy question! William. He's my best friend because he's wonderful. He knows me better than ANYONE else. He knows my deepest thoughts and understands me. He may not always agree with my choices, but he understands. We want the best possible life for each other. William deserves to be happy and I know he wants the same for me.

        We encourage each other to make crazy decisions and follow our dreams. William is one of a kind. He’s supportive, but honest. He’s a strong person and I admire him.

        William's the best drinking buddy I've ever known! We get loud and filthy and I love it! My boyfriend and his husband break us up because we’re having too much fun for them. (fun blockers!)

        He’s just…outstanding.

        I love William and I’m so happy that he’s in my life.
