as a baby boomer, I learned typing in high school on a manual typewriter. If you went too fast the keys jammed. If you made a mistake, you had to erase and it usually tore the paper. And if you did correct it, it still left a telltale spot so it was obvious a mistake had been made.

Now with the computer keys don't jam, you backspace and correct. You even have spell check which back in the 1960s during my high school days would have been seen as impossible to ever be developed.

These are very positive changes for students and writers.

nonfiction. Fiction is too predictable and rather lame. I prefer nonfiction because it is stranger than fiction. Most lives and real life behavior is more bazaar than what authors can invent in their imaginations. It is also interesting to see how other people have solved or overcome life's problems and not only survived but learn to have a positive outcome. Or even if they are still not a winner by society's standards they have learned to survive.

I waited in line over two hours at a public tv station to meet and get an autograph and shake hands with Harold from the Red Green show. It was so worth it. He was nice and gracious and wrote a note on the postcard I handed him and then signed it.
Also, best thing to wait in line for is Holy Communion. What is better than having God with us?

i was sitting in my backyard on my swing reading a book. out of the timber comes a mother raccoon and 3 or 4 baby coons following her and they walk up to about five feet from me as if I was not there. I hoped she did not get nervous about protecting her kids and come bite me. She calmly looked around and then led them back to the woods. Strange but a nice surprise.

Iowa Historical Museum. It is in Des Moines, Iowa. It is about our local history from native Americans to pioneers to the present. It has Abe Lincoln's reading glasses and Kruschev's coat he had worn herding sheep. The display is varied and very well done. It also has a splendid restaurant with rooftop views of the city and a great gift shop. And it is free!!! so all Iowans and tourists of any income may enjoy its bounty.
