Ah young readers, let me tell you a little love story.

Back in my college days I shared a flat with some fellow classmates. My room was on the ground floor that looked out onto the street. Probably what would've been the dining room had it not been for a bunch of students living there. Anyway, to the point. Every morning when I'd get up to go to class I would look out the window.
There she would be. Prettiest girl I'd ever seen. Bright red hair waving in the wind, caught my attention everytime. Now being of the nervious disposition I could never talk to her. That would be scary.
Now the majority of the year past and all I could do was look. Then came the big party for the end of college. Enjoying a drink or two with some of my class mates. And who would you think turned? One of my class mates invited her along. Her name was Nea.
And we hit it off straight away. Well, for once I actually plucked up the courage and made the first move. It was like your typical Hollywood movie. Probably cause that's what I was studying.
We made a great little couple. Course it was only for 3 days. College had ended and I had to head back home and she returned to Finland.
Perfect 3 days though. Just as I had hoped.

Hilarious comedies, gripping drama, mind boggling sci-fi. I find something new all the time.

But during the coversation I will remind myself that you're supposed to look people in the eye when you are talking to them so I'll look. Stare at you dead in the eye, then nerviously look away.
Of course when it comes to my friends I tend to look them in the eye. I trust them enough not to strangle me... I hope.

My Thoughts on Valentine's Day

I tend to be two minds about Valentine's Day.
For one it's just become another one of those corporate holidays, selling you everything under the sun so that special someone in your life knows you love them. (It's not like you could just tell them.) And while all these couples in the world share a loving day together all the single people feel miserable cause we're yet again reminded that we're on our own. Cause according to movies, books and the world in general you ain't somebody unless you've got somebody. It's not a great philosophy to teach people. It's okay to be alone. As long as you're happy. What we need is a singles day. Now if I can be become a saint I can be the patron saint of lonely people. Happy St. Tait's Day!!
On the second hand, usually a couple of days before Valentine's I get really optimistic. "Perhaps this is my year." "Maybe this year someone will confess their love for me." And then of course the day passes, uneventfully. I'm a sucker for building up my hopes.

My Experience with Natural Disasters

I've never really experienced any natural disaster. The closest I've ever come is when I was a kid. My family took a trip to Germany and while we were sleeping one night there was an earthquake near by but not in the same city. The tremors could be felt in the city we were in but not the full on effects.
However, I slept through the whole thing and only discovered what had happened the following morning.

Well I started the year with a girlfriend and now I'm single so that's not a good start. I've haven't really done any work (and by work I mean write and paint) since the year began so that's not good either.
So I gotta face facts, 2011 not such a good year. Still it can only get better. Fingers crossed eh?

It has to be Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. I'm a huge fan of the books and a huge fan of Edgar Wright. So it was a sure thing I was gonna love this film.
I will say i enjoyed the books a hell of a lot more but that doesn't stop it being my film of the year.
Funny, clever, shot amazingly. What's not to like.

Talk the talk, don't text the text.

This is a funny one for me. As my most used method of contact is text. However I have a huge problem with texts.
As my friend once said to me, "You can't express emotion in 160 characters." Yet people still insist on having important converstaions using text messages. How can anyone break up with someone in this fashion. It's horrible, for a number of reasons.
If I wanna tell someone something I'll do it face to face. I much prefer face to face. So a lot of conversations can be painful but that's being human. That's how we become the people we are today. That's why we aren't born with phones in our hands.
If I can help it I'll text someone only to arrange a meeting time and place. That's what I believe text should be for. Not a way to conduct a conversation.

Dammit, I've probably just offended the majority of the planet.
