      • The Frog King - Am Froschbrunnen im Carlisle Park Flensburg

On a warm spring day a girl child of a king was walking around a pond. This young lady was known as Iris, who, on this day was almost fully grown. Iris was looking to find a frog who might want to kiss a human though Iris thought it was only rumor about frogs turning into royalty upon kissing a girl.

Iris found a frog, and upon lifting it Iris thought it said "Oh gross! Is this a human wanting to kiss this frog again?! Can a human know how disgusting that is to a frog?"

Sir Frog said to Iris, "unhand this frog you disgusting human! Don't put your slimy lips on my frog mouth! I couldn't stand it! I think I should faint!"

Poor Iris, ran from the pond, not finding out if planting a kiss on a frog would turn it into royalty.

The moral of the story? It's really hard to write a story without using the letter "e"

    • This Book = waste of trees
      • After hearing Oprah gush about this book I thought I'd give it a try. Most of the other books she's promoted haven't been too bad, some even very enjoyable. This one? What the heck was she thinking??

There was NOTHING good about this book. Imagine 2 pages of one word sentences, even repeated twice. It's like that throughout the book. No paragraphs, the sentences themselves are the paragraphs. No quotations marks for dialogue. It's basically a bunch of disjointed thoughts all thrown together on a page, with the F-bomb thrown in at least once every 4 words to make it seem more gritty. At times it was like reading something a third grader could have done better (minus the excessive use of expletives).

I've also read the many reliable reports that this book is not as true as it's professed to be. I hate to believe any publishing company - or Oprah, for that matter, wouldn't have looked a little more closely at the facts. But I guess if they think it will sell, that's what matters.

Great idea for a book, could have been better if 1) someone who could actually write had written it and 2) it had been promoted as the fiction that it its.

I'm glad I only borrowed it from the library. I wouldn't have wasted my money on it. And the movie that is supposed to come out? I won't even bother.

    • This Movie Always Gets to Me No Matter How Many Times I've Seen It
      • You can't help but like the character George Malley played by John Travolta. He's sweet, kind-hearted, and is so eager to use his newly acquired abilities to help others.

So much of this movie really resonated with me - the way George wouldn't give up on romancing Lace, the way he dealt with the news of the tumor, and the way he was always reaching out to help others.

The sadness of the movie was eased with a bit of humor. My particular favorite was the way George dealt with the scientist who was trying to find out just how intelligent George was.

I always want it to end differently. I want George to live and be happy with Lace and her children. But after weeks of not being able to sleep, he finally does.

    • Heartbreakingly Sad
      • I read this book awhile ago and it still haunts me.

It's not that I disliked the book itself, it was a good book. It's the ending that disappointed....it broke my heart! I felt so bad for all of the characters, the main character as well as her family.

    • Reruns of 'Little House on the Prairie' still hold up
      • Little House on the Prairie
I started watching when I was young, back when my life was simple and uncomplicated. No matter what the problems were that the Ingalls family had, you knew it would all work out in the end and that there would be a lesson learned for one of the characters.
I also loved the historical aspect of the show. Of course, the handsome Michael Landon helped.
And didn't everyone just love to hate Nellie Olson? ;)
