    • Five Things I'm Thankful For

        Plinky asked me to share 5 things I am thankful for and given that Thanksgiving is almost upon us I thought I would take the challenge and offer this answer.

        1. I am thankful for having had the childhood and parents I had. It was not a perfect life but even in its imperfection there was always love given freely and without hesitation.

        2. I am thankful for every friend who has passed in and out of my life. Each one allowed me to share something I needed to share and left behind something I could never have found on my own. They helped me to grow when I wanted nothing more than to hibernate.

        3. I am thankful for the gift of being a wife and mother. I have not always done it right, or well but I have always given it my best effort. Learning to blend my life with that of my husband and children taught me how to see beyond my own limitations and how to dream someone else's dreams along with my own. It taught me how to love beyond words.

        4. I am thankful for being allowed to be there at the end of my parents lives. While the pain of losing them was at times unbearable they taught me strength to face whatever comes and to not be afraid of what I don't know.

        5. I am thankful for being who I am, warts and all.

      • Beauty Bush after the rain

        I love all forms of "art" as long as it is true "art" and not just a gratuitous creation for the sake of creating something to call "art". I have seen so many "want to be" artists who create things only to express an opinion who's only basis is to shock, disgust, or create disruption and while many would call that "art" (and yes believe it is as well) it is not "true" art. Art to me should be a reflection of the creator's very soul. It comes from life, experience and emotion and expresses itself in a way that allows other to experience things they might otherwise never experience. No, it doesn't have to be "beautiful" to be powerful but it does have to be honest. Only when it is honest does the beauty come through.

    • Music I've Been Listening To the Silence of Life.

        I have turned of the music and have been living in silence for some time now. It was a personal choice because the noise of life was getting to be overwhelming. We sometimes forget just how much peace there is in silence and how when we remove all noise we are able to focus and function on a level far higher than we expect. There is beauty in silence that is often overlooked out of fear. For me, at this moment in time, I need the silence to find myself again.
