- In response to: "If you were in a movie right now, what music would be playing?" If I was in a movie right now, Behemoth's "Horns ov Baphomet" would be playing in the background. Great music for a marching army scene or maybe summoning something (fantasy movie!)

- I Hate Sports
-
I hate sports. Sports are basically a way for men and women to exercise their competitive natures through physical means. While I find that it is good to exercise this nature, I also feel that society places too much importance on sports. The average NFL salary in 2009 was $770,000. Are you kidding me? The guy who can barely read can go on to make more money than a Surgeon or an Anesthesiologist? What kind of screwed up world are we living in that we allocate more of our national funds to meatheads who do nothing but play with a ball than we do to the people who save lives on a daily basis? What dire need are these athletes serving that we need to pay them so much? Isn't $50,00-$100,00 (still unfair in my opinion) more than sufficient to cover medical bills and their cost of living? What's that you say? If we cut their salaries like that they wouldn't be able to afford Rolls Royce's and mansions. Maybe if they actually contributed something useful to society like doctors or teachers (they should swap teachers and pro athlete's salaries') they would deserve to live in fancy houses and drive nice cars.
Dogs and toddlers can play with a ball and entertain people. So why are we paying people $700,000+ to do what dogs and toddlers will happily do for free? Food for thought world.

- A Magical Book
-
Thus far the most influential book on my life has been Modern Magick (2nd ed.) by Donald Michael Kraig.
Modern Magick serves as the introduction to high/ceremonial magick for countless practicing magicians, and I was no exception. At a time when my life was undergoing dramatic (and sometimes traumatic) personal changes, I began to question things around me. Up until that point I had been a blindly faithful Christian, and after something that I felt was permanent and sure in my life was suddenly proven to be otherwise, I had to stop and question what else wasn't real. I was dissatisfied with my life, and I sought to change it.
I have always been a Wikipedia addict. If I hear something that I don't recognize, I go home and Wiki it. Some times I just browse through Wikipedia, jumping from link to link and absorbing all of the information as I go. I suppose it was on one of these nights that I started looking up black magick and Satanism. I should explain as to why I was looking these things up. I am a huge black metal fan, and much of the lyrical content and theatrical elements in black metal songs/performances are steeped with Satanic symbolism. Naturally in my search for something different to change my life, Satanism was one of the first things I looked into. I quickly found that it wasn't for me. I didn't have it in me to put myself above all others, disregarding their rights and their wills. In my research on Satanism and black magick, I came across a term that I had never heard before: High Magick.
After several websites containing cursory information on the subject (I'm not sure how I didn't stumble upon any good site at the time) I came across the Amazon link to Frater UD's High Magick book series (also incredible books that I highly recommend to magicians already familiar with the basics of high magick). I read the reviews, and one of the reviewers wisely advises that while Frater UD's books are good, they are not for the beginner. He suggests beginners look into Donald Michael Kraig's Modern Magick: Eleven Lessons in the High Magical Arts. Kraig's book teaches the principles of magick in easy to understand exercises that immediately start you on doing ritual work. Kraig stresses the importance of actually doing magick instead of just reading about it in theory. Per the instructions in the book, I began practicing magick daily, progressing from exercises in relaxing the body, to more complex rituals such as the Middle Pillar Ritual.
Ever since I started practicing magick, I have bought various other books, joined a magical order, built my own magical tools, and converted to Thelema. All of that has been pivotal to the new direction I am taking my life, but I feel that I owe much thanks to Modern Magick. WIthout MM, I might have just kept looking and never found anything suitable to my needs.

- Progressive Love
-
Out of all of my relationships, I can definitely say that I've been in love twice. The first was my high school sweetheart. We dated for almost 4 years and were very much in love. Well as much as two people who were complete opposites can be in love. If it's one thing I learned from that relationship it's that when it comes to me (and apparently her too) opposites don't attract! I mean there were plenty of other factors in the breakup, but in retrospect we really were a circular peg and a triangular hole.
The girl that I'm dating now is my second love. This time I got what I never thought existed: exactly what I wanted! I figured that relationships always went something like this:
Guy: "I like her alot man. She's good looking, and funny. She does like that lame band _______ and I can't stand her obsession with _________, and we don't have that much to talk about. But you know what they say: 'Opposites attract!'"
Instead I've met a girl who has become my best friend. We share the same interests, similar outlooks on life, similar spiritual world views, and we feel similar on all issues that are important to us. We communicate in the same way, and I feel comfortable enough around her to show her all that I am. It's a great feeling.

- RIP Chuck
-
Definitely Chuck Schuldiner. Schuldiner was the vocalist/lead guitar of the death metal band Death, and largely held by fans to be the father of death metal. He died tragically young at 34 from brain cancer.
Schuldiner created some of the most memorable death metal songs of all time and has influenced musicians of all genres. His lack of proper music theory education is an inspiration to guitarists starting out and self teaching. His music speaks for itself, and I encourage anyone curious about him to listen to some of his music. I'd recommend anything from Death's "Spiritual Healing" or "Individual Thought Patterns" albums.

- Families and technology
-
It's hard for me to say, as my family isn't very traditional. I guess my verdict is: if you're talking about a traditional family that lives in the same house, I feel that technology strains their relationships as they are all preoccupied with various electronics and don't take the time to communicate. Son is playing video games, dad is watching sports center, and mom is talking with her friends on Facebook. They all live in the same house but are all worlds apart.
Extended families and non traditional families as in my case where I live at least 2 hours away from my closest relative and several states away from either of my parents tend to benefit more from technology as it allows them to keep up with each other. Thanks to technology I can text my Dad to see how he's doing, reach my cousins on Facebook with some of them not even in the USA, and call my mom all from my Blackberry.
