    • The past three months of my life: More than I ever imagined.
      • The past three months have, by far, greatly exceeded any expectation I had of them. We played in the sand, listened to the ocean, found a drive in theater, had fun, ate lots of fresh fruit and vegetables (though there is always room for more) and celebrated all of our hard work. I had much more to do and even greater demands on my planning skills, but things are happening for our family and in our home that I could not have marked into my calendar 90 days ago. Everything has not been perfect, but just about all of our goals have been surpassed and who can complain about that? Now I just have to stay focused for the next 90 days. :)

    • Classroom Crisis
      • When I was in elementary school, I had a music teacher who, I felt, liked everyone in the class except me. She called on everyone except me. I kept track and she actually called on every student in the class except for me. I thought maybe I needed to work harder to get her attention. So I practiced and practiced and practiced and still never got called on. One day, after I was discouraged and tired of feeling that way, I asked her why she ignored me. She told me that she resented the fact that I asked the question and got all puffed up. I almost felt bad for asking at the time, except I kept track of everyone she had called on for weeks and she called on everybody but me. The next time I had an altercation with a teacher like that I was in college and I dropped him. Maybe I should thank her for helping me determine what kind of treatment I would not tolerate in a classroom setting or anywhere else.

    • Culture Shock
      • Plinky asked, "Share the most extreme case of culture shock you've ever experienced." I think the ironic thing about my answer to that question has been that the biggest shocks have been when I have returned to places I have not lived for a long time. I spent the earliest part of my life in the Midwest. Then I grew up in the South, moved to the West and for a short time, considered a return to the Midwest. until I went there. I don't know if I had changed too much or if life in my former corner of the world had, but I guess the saying is right. You can't go home again.

    • If I Were a Dog
      • Plinky asked, "If you were a breed of dog, what kind would you be?" Anybody who knows me KNOWS the answer to this question. I'd be a fabulous, black POODLE because poodles are loyal, intelligent, elegant, well-built and because of their single coat which sheds minimally, hypoallergenic. Poodles are pampered and have been known to keep elite company. Who could ask for anything more?

    • How I Define Romance
      • Plinky had this prompt that asked, "What does romance mean to you?" I think it means being in tune with what that special person likes and making it happen for them. I think it is different depending on the individual, but the other person doing it for their pure joy and delight is really romantic to me. Wow. I really thought that my explanation would be longer, but that's it.
